The bushi of this school use Iaijutsu like thier Crane cousins, but Natsune had
some ideas of his own. A Natsune bushi learns to use his saya as a defensive weapon. They hold thier
katana in the left hand by the saya, unsheathing it only to strike. Benefit: +1 Reflexes
Beginning Honor: 3, plus 5 boxes Skills: Archery, Defense, Etiquette, Iaijutsu, Kenjutsu,
Meditation, Shintao.
Techniques
Rank 1: Way of the Sparrow - Bushi of the Natsune school may add thier
Iaijutsu score to any initiative roll and may also use Iaijutsu in place of their Kenjutsu skill.
Rank 2: Wings Flutter - The bushi also uses his saya when in Full Defense. The motion of
the swinging saya and katana is similar to a bird's wings. The bushi is at an addition +5 TN to be hit
when employing a Full Defense.
Rank 3: Speed of the Sparrow - The bushi may make 2 attacks per round at this rank.
Rank 4: Counting Coup - The bushi is a humble man and may teach humility to others. When making
an attack, the bushi may strike with his katana still within its saya. The bushi makes an Agility +
Kenjutsu roll vs the target's Glory x 5. If successful, the bushi takes a number of Glory points from
the target equal to the difference in Glory rank plus one.
Rank 5: Swift as a Sparrow - Before combat has begun the bushi may make an opposed Void roll.
If successful, the bushi may make a swift attack before combat begins. The TN of this attack is 5.
The samurai of the Sparrow Clan have devoted their lives to the Tao of Shinsei
and the code of bushido. A Sparrow bushi has spent as much time in study as he has in the fighting
arts. Benefit: +1 Reflexes Beginning Honor: 3, plus 5 boxes Skills: Bard, Defense, Iaijutsu,
Kenjutsu, Meditation, Shintao, any one High or Bugei skill.
Techniques
Rank 1: Way of the Sparrow - The bushi's deep understanding of the Tao
of Shinsei permeates his very being, influencing all he does. The bushi may add his Shintao skill to
all High Skill rolls.
Rank 2: The Speed of Certainty - The bushi's insight has expanded to the point where he may
anticipate his opponent's actions. He may add his Shintao skill to his Initiative roll. If the number
rolled on the Initiative die is lower than the bushi's Shintao, he may choose to reroll the die once,
keeping the higher of the two rolls.
Rank 3: Shinsei's Resolve - Sparrow bushi are acutely aware that they are but one grain of sand
along the shore of life. Still, they embrace their destinies and move forward with unwavering resolve.
By spending a Void point, the bushi may ignore wound penalties for a number of rounds equal to his
school rank. This extends throught the 'Down' wound level, but not to the 'Out' wound level.

Travelling Pack, Light Armor, any 1 weapon, 1 koku.
Akahita Shugenja School
