Techniques
Rank 1: Patient Strike - Adds Water ring to hit and damage rolls.
Rank 2: Shell Defense - Adds 15 to the TN when being attacked by arrows or other projectiles.
Rank 3: Snap and Strike - The bushi can make two attacks per round.
Rank 4: Emergence of the Tortoise - may reduce an opponent's initiative roll to zero as many times a
day equal to void rating. One void point must be spent to do this.
Rank 5: Generations Pass - The Tortoise bushi ages only one year per every five years that pass.
The Dage Shugenja School
Benefit: +1 Intelligence
Beginning Skills: Caligraphy, Meditation, any 3 High skills, any 2 Bugei
skills
Beginning Honor: 2, plus 5 boxes
Beginning spells: Sense, Commune, Summon, 3 Water, 2 Air,
and 1 Earth.
Shugenja get 1 free raise in Water Spells per school rank.
Outfit: Wakizashi (fine
quality), Kimono, Scroll Satchel, 6 Blank Scrolls, Quill & Ink, 6 koku.
The Tento Bushi Schol
Benefit: +1 Stamina
Beginning Honor: 2, plus 5 boxes
Skills: Defense, Kenjutsu, Meditation,
Shintao, Tetsubo, plus any 2 High or Bugei skills.
Techniques
Rank 1: Way of the Tortoise - The bushi suffers no penalties for heavy armor. They also learn to
harness their Water energies. They may add their Water to all hit and damage rolls.
Rank 2: Tortoise Stomp - The bushi learns to make the most of each attack. When using a Full Attack,
the bushi may keep the bonus dice as well.
Rank 3: Thick Shell - The bushi learns to shrug off blows. He may subtract his Earth from all
damage he suffers.
Rank 4: Oblivious to the World - Just like their namesake, the Tortoise bushi are sometimes oblivious
to the world around them and sometimes just don't notice things. Once per day the bushi may spend a Void
Point and make a simple Void roll (TN 25) to ignore all damage from a single blow.
Rank 5: When the Tortoise Snaps - The bushi learns to make the most of his single attack. Before he
strikes, the bushi may spend a Void Point. If he hits, he may roll double damage.
Outfit: Same as the Crab Clan
