Armour design, patterns and lacing were more a matter of personal taste
than anything else. There were many styles. From top left to bottom
right: shikime odoshi, susogoi odoshi, omodaka odoshi, tsumadori
odoshi, mongara odoshi (the owners crest forming the basis of this
pattern), hadasusogoi odoshi, tatewake odoshi, katatsumadori odoshi.
Each coloured peice of the armour is a scale made from either rawhide or iron. The great weight of armours made entirely of iron prohibited their general use.
