HEALTH
Guinea pigs live about 5 to 7 years. You should'nt try to breed a guinea pig after the age of 4 or 5 months.
NAIL CLIPPING
The first thing you do is hold the guinea pig upside down on it's back to get it used to being that way. Than you have someone hold the animal that way but be carefully because it may try to bite you in the process. Every guinea pig is different though like Snowball wont try to bite but Patchy will. If your guinea pig is a dark color you may want to ask your vet to trim the nails because you are not positivly sure where the quick is in their nail but otherwise cut no further than the pink part you can see through the nail. Every thing shown below.
INJURIES
Try to prevent injuries in the first place by holding on to your guinea pig tight enough so as he doesn't slip out of your hands and do not put your guinea pig on the edge of any thing over one foot high. If by chance he does fall call your vet immediately. Don't let it wait and get worse than you will end up waiting almost two weeks for them to heal like we did because we waited to long before calling our vet Dr. Humphrey.
REMINDER: Clean your pigs cage every time it looks dirty, give them fresh water every other day or so and give them 1 tbsp of food twice a day.
