MY FUN

HUNTING

Needless to say, I am an avid deer hunter. The last three months of the year consists of deer hunting, deer hunting and figuring out how to get out of work so I can go deer hunting. I guess I like hunting. I know, I know! Some of you people out there think that people like me go out and shoot those poor little bambi type deer. Well, on rare occasion it happens but for the most part, we're looking for a big one. Learn more about hunting and why I enjoy it so much by following some of these links!

As for what I hunt with? I we do it all! In the fall, we hunt the archery season first. Most of us use PSE bows and Easton arrows with Rocket brand broadheads. A good hunting set-up with equipment and all, will usually run about $800 plus. To hunt efficiently, a person doesn't have to tie up as much money in their hunting equipment, but for the person that lives in the woods like we do, the best equipment is a necessity. After the archery season comes my favorite. The muzzle loading season.

Black powder season usually falls in my favorite time of year to hunt. Early November is most always quite mild in Tennesse. Cool enough that the deer like to move around but warm enough that it's bareable. One thing with muzzle loading, a person has to be sure of their shot 'cause reloading is kinda slow! Then there's the rifle season. Most of the rifle season in Tennessee is buck only. Me, my friends and family, all love venison. We all like to put four or five deer in the freezer each year. What I'm leading up to is that I'd much rather have does in the freezer than bucks. A doe is usually much more tender and doesn't have the "wild" taste like a buck. Therefore, when hunting for the freezer like I do, hopefully I will have a few does already bagged before the rifle season so that I can wait on the big one to come through.

Not that I don't eat the bucks, but I prefer a doe ten to one over a buck. Remember, most of the pictures that you see here aren't my deer but a collection of pictures from different hunts. In fact, most of them would be my friend Larry's deer. I hope to have more pictures soon. Especially more pictures from the upcoming deer season. Gotta get 'em before you take pictures. Check out some other links to manufacturers of the hunting equipment that I like. Let's go hunting!!!
