Formed.
1990
The band was on its way.
Sept. 1991
Released their first self titled album.
Feb. 1992
The album went double platinum and the song "The Actor" became their first
No. 1 hit single,
not only in Denmark, but also in the other Scandinavian countries.
Spring, 1992
"The Actor" went No. 1 in all radio stations in Indonesia and just this
one song, the album
climbed to platinum stages within 3 months.
The news of success in Indonesia soon spread to Malaysia and Singapore,
and in both
territories, the album was released and received gold.
Dec. 1992
Made their first promo concert tour to South East Asia.
The album reached 400 thousand units sold in the South East Asian region
and in Scandinavia.
Oct. 1993
Their second album "Colors" was released.
It contained not less than 3 No. 1 hit singles, and it was given priority
status in Indonesia,
Malaysia, and Singapore. The first single "Sleeping Child" hit all radio
stations by storm, and
2 more territories, Thailand and Philippine became excited by "The Actor".
1994
Visited all 5 territories.
Everywhere they went, the crowd was outstanding and to certain degree totally
out of
control. The band was easy to work with and they showed a great deal of
respect for the
local customs in each country they visited. They did 15 TV interviews in
Thailand in less than
2 days, and the media loved them and supported them in the way no other
international band
had been supported before. Concerts in Singapore, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur
became major
events. The one in Bangkok became the most successful one ever.
"Colors" sold more than 1.1 million units in 19 countries and it achieved
more than 20 platinum
awards in Europe and South East Asia.
Dec. 1994
Received the Grammy for the best performing actor of the year.
Feb. 1995
A South East Asian award was given to them in Singapore.
Aug. 1995
Released their third album "Played On Pepper" in both Scandinavian and
all territories in the
South East Asian region. Also Taiwan and Hong Kong were committed to the
band.
The first single "That's Why (You Go Away)" was charting faster than any
other singles,
and in some countries, you could find 3 MLTR songs on the chart at the
same time.
1995-96
Made 3 combined promotional concerts tours to the South East Asian region.
Several
countries had visited twice. And for the first time, MLTR gave concerts
in Thailand in 4
provinces outside of Bangkok.
Started to appear in Channel V, the most important satellite broadcasting
in the region. TV
supports surely helped for the band's popularity and sells in new markets.
Visited India and Arabia, and gave their first Indian concerts in madras,
Ban galore.
With "Played On Pepper", Japan showed interest for the first time, and
they returned the
band for even twice.
The very impressive success story in South East Asia only increased the
interest in Europe
outside of Scandinavia. And some countries started to see good results
on radio. Switzerland
led the way.
"Played On Pepper" sold more than 1.2 million units and received new resplendent
records in
most territories.
1996
Released a "Greatest Hits" album in Malaysia, India, Arabia, Japan and
South Africa.
The "Greatest Hits" collection contained all the hits of MLTR, including
two new songs taken
from the coming new album. One of the new songs, "Paint My Love", was released
in Sept.
and became a No. 1 hit within a few weeks.
Oct. 1996
Went on the most compressive promo tour to the South East Asian region.
Interviews were made with all the International TV stations in Korea, Malaysia
and
Thailand. Territories which cannot be included in this trip flew their
members of the media
and interviews were all arranged.
The song "Paint My Love" has been vital for the huge success of the MLTR's
"Greatest
Hits" album. They've sold more than 2.4 million units and in some countries,
the album was
the best-selling international record ever.
Sept. 1997
Released "Nothing To Lose" album in Denmark, Singapore, and Malaysia.
This album was also released in a limited edition version (available in
Australia, Malaysia,
and Singapore) featuring bonus VCD with Interview, "I'm Gonna Be Around"
(MTV Karaoke
Version), Success Story, and "That's Why" (MTV Karaoke Version).
