Key the Metal Idol

Key the metal Idol is a Sci-fi anime that you may or may not know about. It had only one season (13 episodes) and concluded with two movies to end the season. It has a very original story plot and theme. It is animated very well, smoothly, and crisp for the time that it came out(about 1993 in Japan). The story is of a girl, named Tokiko Mima(Key), who is thought to be a robot. She is under the care of her grandfather, Prof. Mima, until he is suddenly stricken ill and dies. Before he dies, Prof. Mima tell Key that it is possible for her to become human with the aid of 30,000 friends. Key believes what her grandfather told her in his dying words and decides to venture off to Tokyo and meet her destiny head on. On the way, she encounters an old friend that helps her achieve her goal.
