Beyond the specs:

The Dodge Viper is pure American muscle, about as muscular as US laws will allow for road use. The secret to its performance is simple brute force, like a huge engine (8 liters!), big tires (10in x 17in front & 13in x 17in rear!), and a wide track (59.6in front & 60.6in rear) on its 75.6in wide body. This combination results in explosive acceleration, awesome handling (its shalom speed is unmatched by any production car), and an engine with massive performance potential still in it. Its engine is the largest ever offered in a production vehicle, and besides the Dodge Ram pickup and the Ford Super Duty pickup it is the only other production vehicle with a V10 engine. This engine gives it more potential than Dodge has extracted from it, John Hennessey has showed us that and there are some turbo kits that can push it to 1200hp and possibly even higher! The Viper is very powerful, but even with its 13in x 17in rear tires its 490 lbs.-ft of torque can easily induce wheel spin under hard acceleration. This is no easy beast to tame since its massive torque can unsteady the car in a corner if the driver is not up to the task. And with all this power it still comes at bargain price of only $66,000 when it can compete with many cars costing over $200,000! This car is for the skilled driver who wants outstanding performance and likes to stop traffic with the sheer beauty of their car. There is just one minor catch though, there have been complaints about comfort and reports that it may not be quite up to Ferrari quality. Still this is one amazing deal and I personally think it is more than worth its price tag.
