Calpe, Costa Blanca, Spain
The building (originally of the XV century) is rectangular
with two naves: central and lateral, separated by five pillars joined by arches. The
main nave has 4 arched edged vaults. In the lateral nave its vaults are different,
one is a half orange with a drum and the other with edgings. The Prebystery is part of the old town walls. The sacristy and the choir dates from the XVIII century. In the XVIII century an extension was undertaken that constitutes the actual inner quadrangle of the modern temple. The Belfry was constructed during different periods boasting arches, balustrades and 4 capstoned corners. A painting is preserved on wood in its interior in distemper of XV century that represents San Antonio, San Cosme and San Damian of high artistic value, attributed to a student of Juan Rexarch. |
