5 Steps to Salvation

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10

God has done so much for us, and even though we don't deserve it, He still offers us salvation from our sins. But we have a responsibility in accepting His gift of mercy. Your responsibility has been repeated throughout these pages, but to put it in its simplest form I've broken it down into five easy steps.

"You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them?" Isaiah 48:6

You have to admit that you are a sinner and that you need a savior.

"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." Luke 15:7

You must be willing to repent and turn from your sins. True repentance means to change ones heart, to understand your sin and willfully turn away from it.

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" John 1:12

Believe that Jesus died to rescue you from your sins, and then He rose from the dead, conquering death for you

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

Through prayer invite Jesus into your life, and receive Him as your Savior.

"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:15-16

Using your own words pray something like this:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I'm a sinner, and I realize that I can't make it on my own. Thank you for dying for me, and for forgiving my sins. Right at this moment, the best way I know how, I want to become a Christian by trusting you as my Savior and Lord. From this moment on I want to follow you. I want to turn from sin and give you control over my life. I pray this in your Holy name, Amen."

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2nd Corinthians 5:17

If you said a prayer like this from your heart praise God and congratulations, you are a Born Again Christian. There is nothing magical or mystical about those words, 'Born again'; it simply means that your old life (without Christ) no longer exists. That person has just died, and a new person has been born as a Child of God, and you will now live forever with Him in heaven.

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:36
