Are all rich people evil and greedy? Actually, I don't know. There may well be some human beings among the Big Rich. Consider the Kennedys. But this is a moot point to some degree. In practice, they operate as a class; their class are the only people who are really real to them, the only ones who matter. They know absolutely nothing about the everyday life of more than 99% of humanity, and care less.
Their wealth is mostly stolen. The operation of their system has consistently and relentlessly concentrated and conglomerated the wealth of the world into their pockets, to the point where the top fraction of 1% own or control almost ALL of the world's assets. So the Earth is their property, to do with as they wish. If you question anything they do (such as cutting down the last redwoods), they will calmly tell you that you have nothing to say about it. You do what you want with your property and I'll do as I please with mine. If a timber company can get the title to that forest, every court will tell you that they are perfectly within their rights to cut down every tree on it. The sanctity of private property is one of the main tenets of the religion of capitalism.
Another is the sanctity of the profit motive. Anything is justified if it increases the bottom line.
The well-being of the land they use, and of the plants and animals - and people - inhabiting that land - does not enter into it.
