Another question arises from the one just asked: How many "refugees" and "stateless" people and homeless people and hungry people and unemployed and enslaved people and oppressed people and forgotten people does it take to get our attention? Recently I heard on Democracy Now! that there are some 7 million identified "refugees" in Africa alone; and of course this leaves out all those other miserable ones who don`t happen to be called "refugees" as such (for a variety of reasons, some nefarious). This may serve as one indicator of a horrifying total. And if we ARE aware of the true magnitude of it; and go on with business as usual: what does that say about us?

"Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself (herself) and of his (her) family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care."
-- Article 25, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948

Did you see the phrase "medical care"? As long as the Big Rich (and their surrogates and mouthpieces - the Republican Party, the A.M.A., the entire medical insurance industry, every TV network, and the U.S. Government) continue to perpetuate the lack of national health care in the U.S., they are committing a massive human rights violation. They are all criminal organizations.
