The Wedding Party

Vanessa Varecha (Maid of Honor) and Julie became friends on the school bus on the way to their first day of kindergarten. Their friendship was forged by a mutual love of torturing Vanessa's brother Brett, creating their own radio program called "Girls,Girls, Girls" (produced in Vanessa's backyard), remaking popular movies on Vanessa's Fisher Price PXL 2000 video camera, and swimming at Julie's house. There were some rocky moments in elementary school (in fourth grade, both of them unfolded their Trapper Keepers and placed them upright on their desks to serve as fortresses so that they wouldn't have to look at each other). Their friendship was permanently forged, though, with their mutual idolization of the boy-band New Kids on the Block in junior high, of whom they successfully survived five concerts, multiple tee-shirts and posters, and many almost-tearful all-night phone conversations pondering their chances of becoming NKOTB's girlfriends. Although they can no longer ride their bikes to each other's houses, they remain the best of friends.
Vanessa is the Network and Communications Administrator at Allegheny Country Club.
When Beckie Keech (bridesmaid, originally from Rochester, NY) was told that the new graduate student with whom she would be teaching was a music history major and a bassoonist, she knew that she would be sharing her office with either a really interesting person or a total geek. Her opinion of Julie after meeting her is still up for debate, but they did become immediate friends. As partied-out twenty-some-year-olds, their social activity focused primarily around ordering pizza while correcting tests and papers on Friday nights, with the occasional going out to one of the area bars. In fact, their boss was constantly encouraging Beckie to take Julie to Happy Hour to "get her out of the house more." Although she never heeded his urgings on that one, Julie knows that she never would have gotten through graduate school without Beckie's advice, support, and friendship and is eternally grateful.
Beckie is coming from Long Island, NY, where she is a middle-school choir director.

Kimberly Thomas Winter (bridesmaid, originally from Zelienople, PA) lived next door to Julie at Westminster College for a whole semester until they were introduced at a study session. From then on, Julie and "Krumb" encouraged each other to blow off their schoolwork in favor of decorating their dorm doors, prank phone-calling people, and challenging each other to see how many iced cheerios they could fit on their tongues at one time or who could look the most glamorous with their faces made up with pink and yellow highlighter. Krumb also encouraged Julie to skip cafeteria meals in favor of eating large amounts of Ramen noodles and cereal, while she abhorred Julie's obsessions with Sunny Delight and Yoo-Hoo. Mike, Kim's husband-to-be, just added to the fun; he would entertain Julie on visits with various bodily tricks, including the time he suction-cupped himself to her dorm hall walls. Although Krumb now lives with Mike on the other side of the country, she has graciously decided to come and stir things up a little.
Kimberly is coming from Puyallup, WA (near Seattle) where she is an Administrative Assistant for Alaska Airlines.
