Cindy Hibler: Hibler is this month’s featured artists at the Jelly Bean Tree, Saxtons River, VT’s oldest craft cooperative. Hibler, a teacher at Vermont Academy, offers hand-knitted items made from natural fibers. Hibler’s work is displayed along with the work of fifty other artists who contribute to the cooperative. The Jelly Bean Tree is open daily from noon-5 p.m. hand crafters may submit work to be juried during those hours and more information may be had by calling 802-869-2960.

Multiple Personalities: One-woman show by Shelburne Falls artist Cosima Hewes features oils, acrylics, pastels, and pencil images varying from photo-realism to surreal abstraction, that center on women,  their relationships, pregnancy, giving birth, children, and the mother-child bond. Peter Sabin — Hand-Thrown Stoneware Pottery: The strikingly elegant stoneware pottery created by Sabin is the featured work in this year’s League of NH Craftsmen’s Retail Galleries 2002 Traveling Exhibition. He pottery, known for its clean, spare, functional design will be on exhibit at each of the six League of NH Craftsmen Retail Galleries for one month, from Jun.-Nov. 2002. Wed., October 2

Drepung Gomang Monks of Tibet: The monks will create a sand painting for world peace on a five foot square platform at Mariposa Museum, 26 Main St., Peterborough, NH, from Oct. 2-6. The process takes five days and involves 2-8 monks as the work grows out from the middle, culminating in a beautiful design and a closing ceremony when the artwork is swept up and carried in procession to be dispersed in the Contoocock River to carry its healing power out to the ocean and worldwide.
