Serenity

In a cloud of darkness,
I find myself alone.
Surrounded by total serenity,
As some have never known.

My mind traipses through memories,
Long lost in time.
Days darker than this,
The sun chose not to shine.

Be wary who you trust,
This message life has shown.
Rarely will you meet someone,
Who lets their true self be known.

From the very beginning,
I give them all a clean slate,
Hoping the value of friendship,
Is something they appreciate.

Rays of light pierce the darkness,
As faces of true friends appear.
This rainy day becomes bright,
With memories of times so dear.
