| Letter From the President of the AAC: |
Dear Website Visitors, The A.A.C. (America's Abused Children) is an organization for kids by kids. What AAC does is tries to reach out to kids (& adults) who are being abused, or knows someone who is. We give information about child abuse over the internet. Abuse against children needs to stop. Children can make it stop. If this website helps at least one child, I will feel my goal has been reached. Please, get help. No one should have to live a life of abuse. No one. God Bless all. Sincerely, AAC President. -PS I've found numerous facts & websites that I will display in the text below. Thank you for visiting my site. If you have any ideas for the AAC, please e-mail me. 3.2 million children were reported for child abuse & neglect. -staggering, 'eh? Well, from 1996 to 1997 there was a 1.7% increase over the number of children reported in 1996. According to the 1997 survey, (of confirmed cases) phys. abuse represented 22% sexual abuse: 8% neglect: 54% emotional maltreatment: 4% & other forms of maltreatment: 12%. In the survey of 1986 survey, (of confirmed cases) phys. abuse: 26% sexual abuse: 16% neglect: 55% emotional maltreatment: 8% About 47 out of every 1,000 children are reported victims of child maltreatment. An estimate of 1,185 child abuse fatalities were confirmed by CPS agencies. Based on these numbers, more than 3 children die each day by child abuse or neglect. Since 1985, the child abuse fatalities have increased by 34%. Young children remain at a high risk of fatalities. About 78% of all cases of abuse fatalities are of children under the age of five, 38% were under the age of one at death. 44% of fatalities resulted from neglect, 51% from physical abuse, & 5% of a combination of phys. & neglectful parenting. In 1997, about 84,320 new cases of child sexual abuse were accepted for service accounting for 8% of all confirmed vicitms. Reports of child maltreatment involving day care centers and foster care homes attract a great deal of media attention. Although, this is small compared to the abuse in the home. Based on information, 18 states, reported 3% of all confirmed cases in 1997. It has remained for the past 11 years. Substance & child abuse have a strong link together, & infact, has been strengthening over the years. In 1997, 88% of respondents named a substance as one of the top two problems presented by families reported for maltreatment. This percentage is higher that those reported in past years. Substance abuse is clearly a primary contributor to child maltreatment. Sources: Prevent Child Abuse America | Child Abuse & Neglect Facts:

| THE BIG PICTURE |
The Big Picture --------------- You can't hurt me anymore. Your lies are making my ears sore I'm feeling alot like a matador, Fighting the bull, yet more like a boar. These tears I'm crying aren't for you, I'm through crying over what you do. I will make sure you pay for all you do. Your hurting me just won't do. When you say it'll be ok what do you mean? Tell me, what's the big picture that you see? Is it of the father you pretend to be? Tell me what's the big picture that you see? Is it of 'happy times' of hurting me? Or the 'happy times' of your absense from me? What's the glamourous picture that you see? The picture is as absent as you are to me. Luckily, at an early age I have found; What goes around, comes around, Unfortunate for you, it's hell bound. Danielle M. age 12
