Annapolis...

is the capital of Maryland.  It was first settled in 1649.  For nine months, it was the capital of the United States in 1783.  We live but a short drive to Annapolis.  It's just 50 minutes and you're at the Chesapeake Bay, known for it's blue crab, and pleasant living. It is filled with colonial tradition, charm and a wealth of sights to see..  It is home to the US Naval Academy, as well as being the Sailing Capital of the World.  Each year, in the fall, Annapolis is the home to the largest sail and power boat show in the world!

The Maryland Statehouse was built in 1772, and is the oldest legislative building in the U.S. still in use today.

Established in 1695, the City Docks is among the favorites to see.  It is known as "Ego Alley" from the parade of expensive yachts which
stream through.

The United States Naval Academy is just 2 blocks from the center of town.  It boasts the largest dormitory in the world.  Some  4000
midshipmen call it their home while in Annapolis.

One, not so welcome visitor to the bay is the East Coast Sea Nettle.  This nasty funspoiler can ruin any day in the bay.  Although its sting is not fatal, it is midly toxic and its tentacles deliver a painful sting.  I remember summers growing up on the bay, where you couldn't even get into the water for all the sea nettles!

As you sail down the bay, you'll see one of the most photographed lighthouses.  (Thomas Point has recently been named a National Historic Landmark .)   It will lead you onto your peaceful voyage into the sunset...leaving Annapolis behind...

Come back again...anytime....
