History of Spanish Fork:
- Native Americans have lived in the Utah Valley for
thousands of years.
- Franciscan Monks Father Escalante and Father Deminguez
were the first Europeans that recorded their travels
here.
- They entered the valley in September 23, 1776 looking for
a better route from Santa Fe to Monterrey.
- Various fur trappers and explorers were in the
valley during the early 1800's.
- Etienne Provost and Francois LeClec in
1824.
- John C. Fremont in 1844.
- The first full time Europeans arrived in the mid 1800's.
- Mormon settlers came during the winter of
1850-51.
- Utah granted statehood on January 4, 1896.
Facts and Climate
- We are located about 50 miles south of Salt Lake
City.
- The city has been growing rapidly during the mid
1990's.
- Our population is about 18,000, which is good
size for Utah.
- There are several small industries, many retail
outlets, and lots of people commute to
neighboring cities for work.
- Spanish Fork has a semi-arid climate.

- Mostly coming during the winter into the Spring.

- Hot summers with cold winters.

- Winter can bring below zero tempertures.
