Thank you for checking out Periodic Table Test. This Applet continues to evolve, and while it does, I welcome your comments and suggestions. This page provides you with a smattering of information to help you get the game up and running.

Macintosh folks: I don't believe this applet will work on the Macintosh since the Mac does not yet support Java version 1.2. However, I've done some research and now believe I can rework it a bit to enable it on the Mac. If you are a Mac user and happen upon this page, please send me words of encouragement to speed me along.

PC and Unix users, if you need the Java 1.2 Runtime Engine plugin (JRE),

1) The Periodic Table Test page will direct you to it. Go to the Sun site and download the plugin. Look at the bottom of the page - download.

2) After completion of download, go to the location on your hard drive where you just downloaded the JRE installer from the web, and launch it. The installer will ask for a location - the default is fine.

3) When installation is complete, go to Start/Programs/Java Plugin Control Panel. Select Advanced tab, and select the JRE 1.2 from the dropdown menu.

4) Close the control panel, launch Netscape or IE, and you are good to go.

It is possible that the installation will automate itself, freeing you from the above steps. Don't forget, however, that you will need to close and restart your browser for the new JRE plugin to get recognized.
