The sad departure of our dearest Bro Mahmud on 6^th of August 1998 will be truly remembered as he was a brother who was selfless and very dedicated in his job. He served the NUS Muslim Society as a President in the Year 1996/1997. In his year as a President as well as his previous years as an active member of both Muslim Society as well as Malay Language Society, he has made numerous invaluable contributions.

His will be a memory of one who is relentless in his efforts in promoting the mission and vision of NUS MS and MLS, sincere in his words and actions, exemplary in akhlak and tireless in giving words of encouragement to his peers and his juniors. His abrupt demise, as a result of a brain hemorrhage, is still hard for many to accept. Nevertheless, verily Allah loves his soul much more than we do such that he had to leave us first.

Bro Mahmud left behind his beloved wife and also a son, barely 2 weeks old at the time of his demise. We beseech all of you to doa for this dear brother of ours and that may he attain Jannah for his efforts and willingness to strive in the cause of Allah. Please pray for his family that they are given the strength of Imaan and Taqwa to persevere and undergo this great test from Allah. May Allah grant us the spirit that Bro Mahmud had in spreading His word and May Allah bless his soul for all his sacrifices for the Deen…Amin…Insya-Allah!
