Born in Philipsburgh, but resided in Dobbs Ferry on the west side of Broadway just north of the junction with Ashford Avenue. He enlisted in the First Regiment of the Westchester County militia and was captured by the British and confined in the Sugar House prison in New York. He died on the way home after his release.6
