In 1758 he enlisted in Captain Fowler's company of militia. After his marriage in 1760 he moved to Easton, Washington County. He waas commissioned as Lieutenant in Capt. Van Woert's company of the Saratoga Regiment on June 22, 1778. He also served as Lieutenant under Captains Thompson and Winn, and under Captain Van Woert in Colonel Van Vechten's regiment.6
