This is from a family in South Africa!
I had to share with you the wonderful evening we had as the finale to our
Indian unit.
On Friday we made a tepee out of wooden poles and butcher paper, which the
children then decorated with poster paints. On Saturday we prepared an
Indian meal (used the recipes from the Konos vol, but adapted them
slightly). In the evening we lit a fire near the tepee, put out a couple
of grass mats to sit on and the children dressed in the shirts, headdresses
and necklaces they had made and painted their faces. We had a wonderful
time, eating our meal, sitting under the stars and talking about what we
had learnt and generally sharing some quality family time. (It all went
very well - until our rather large dog stuck his head through the side of
the tepee, which caused some consternation!!)
We had a lovely evening and made some wonderful family memories. A perfect
end to a unit which we've all enjoyed immensely.
