SP4 Alex "Jack" Risov
Jack is the oldest of three sons born to Alexandre, Sr. and Nadine Delacroix. Alexandre Sr. was a Russian National who escaped Soviet tyranny in the early 1980's. Alexandre Sr. ferried a boatload of Soviet refugees from Vladivostok to their freedom in the USA. He sought political asylum in America, where he met and later married Nadine.
Jack spent much of his early life helping his father with the family boat, a 62-footer named The Nadine, based out of Garibaldi, OR. The family rarely had a working car, but they did have the boat, a couple of canoes, and a bass boat or two at any given time. Alex Sr. and the boys enjoyed fishing and hunting, taking out the boats, swimming, eating, and generally raising hell together.
Jack's father suffered a moderate stroke at age 52 which left him unable to do the thing that he loved most - make a livelihood in the fishing business. The man spiraled deeper into depression until he put a bullet in his brain during Jack's freshman year at high school. For many years, Jack never touched a pistol, although he continued to hunt with rifles. It was just too painful a reminder. He went through some therapy over his issues, and finally came to terms with the situation as he matured. Jack quit school to support the family by working full time on the boat, but one of his teachers talked him into taking his GED. Jack later took a gunsmithing course through community college, and worked part time with his mother's brother in a gun shop when the fishing wasn't very good.
When WWIII was declared, he considered joining the Navy, in order to continue to pursue his love of boats, but the Army had other plans. After the Oregon Territorial Army retreated back across the Columbia River, Jack was drafted as an Artillery Crewman, and went through Basic Training at Camp Rilea in 2008. He trained on the M109 Paladin, a self-propelled version of the big 155mm gun. He was assigned to Alpha Battery, 2/8th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, the "Gators", and stationed at Camp Clark, right on the front lines of the Columbia River. He quickly got his first taste of action, as Artillery duels were commonplace, and as the Soviets attempted on several occasions to cross the river, none successfully. He learned quickly, and stayed alive long enough to be promoted a few times. He has also served on several "peacekeeping" missions, as there is an active resistance movement in the Territory, or a terrorist group, depending on you point of view.
Jack is a small-statured, stocky man, 24 years old, 92 kg and 1.8m tall. He is well tanned from the years he spent fishing, and keeps his haircut high and tight. He is usually dressed in woodland pattern camos, and often sports a muscle t-shirt.
