Welcome to Redondo Beach

A residential community of 60,000+ inhabitants, Redondo Beach emerges once again as a complete resort destination. Now, with more than 1,000 hotel rooms and 100,0000 square feet of meeting space (some with awesome ocean views) the City enthusiastically welcomes business and leisure travelers providing all the services and amenities they've come to expect from a world-class location.

Redondo Beach I s located just west of Los Angeles. It is located in an area that is known as the south bay. Here you will see miles of beautiful beach.

In Redondo Beach, visitors can surround themselves in luxury or explore on a tight budget; the city is completely affordable by all standards. For those with adventure in mind there are many recreational opportunities found few places in the world: water sports, sport fishing, swimming, surfing, sailing, and even trekking a unique wilderness park. Fine seafood dining is, of course, the historical local specialty.

One of my favorite places is the Redondo Fishermans Warf. There you can find a variety of restaurants, Here you can find anything from mexican food to fresh sea food, not to mention my favorite "Sushi" from the fresh sea food market on the pier. One of the oldest and finest restaurants on the pier is Tony's , Here you can pick out your own fresh lobster, and choose from a variety of fresh fish from tonys fish market.

in this picture you can see Tonys in the back , Tonys has a two level restaurant that has a great view of the ocean.

This Is a picture that was taken from my friends house which overlooks the south bay. Redondo Fishermans warf can be seen in the background.

If you are a fisherman you can either fish from the pier or take a cruise on one of the fishing boats that leave out of the harbor everyday.

History

The written history of the Redondo Beach area begins in 1542 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo discovered the beautiful, sweeping Santa Monica bay where it remained an Indian Village for more than 200 years. As part of the 43,000 acre Dominguez Rancho Spanish land grant of 1784, Redondo Beach was a rich farming and grazing area until the late 1800's. Incorporated on April 29,1892, the City was already well served by rail and steamship lines. The lumber and shipping industries preceded the Pacific Electric's Big Red car Line, which contributed to Redondo Beach's reputation as a resort and recreation area. The opening of the Port of Los Angeles in San pedro ended the city's shipping trade and slow growth continued during the Great Depression and through World War II. During the 1950's through today, Redondo Beach has become known as a great place to live, work and play. Redondo Beach is a thriving city of 65,000 in one of the most desireable Southern California areas. Excellent schools and churches, a wide variety of shopping opportunities, a wealth of recreational activities in a moderate seaside climate combine to make Redondo Beach a great place, for a day -- or a lifetime!
