The USS Raven AM55 was launched August 24 1940.She did sweep and patrol duty along the east coast. On October 23 accompanied other ships to North Africa for the invasion of Morroco.On June 5, the RAVEN proceeded to an assigned position for the invasion of Normandy off Utah Beach.In August of 1944 she sailed to Oran and commenced duty in the Med operating off the Italian coast.

A New generation of ships.

The Newest Raven (MHC61) was launched on September 28 1996.This new class of ship is called a Mine Hunter. She is completely built of fiberglass. Equiped with 2 Voith Schneider vertical axis cycloidal controllable pitch propellers she can turn on a dime. It takes a lot less manpower to run this ship. There are only 6 Officers, 4 CPOs, and 42 enlisted ranks.>
