The blessings of obedience
Let's look at what the scriptures say to better understand why keeping the commandments are important to make us free. In 2 Nephi 2:26 we read, And the Messiah cometh in the fullness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, Elder Talmage explained, Atonement is for all mankind it is the message of freedom from sins and its consequences it is the flag of liberty."
What does it mean to be free? Many people think that it means the right to do anything, and everything they want. But that is not true. In fact, that is the worse definition for freedom or liberty. According to Tad R. Callister from his book "The Infinite atonement" p 252 there are four components to freedom:
1) The need for an intelligent being.
2) The knowledge of good and evil
3) The availability of choices
4) The power to execute or to carry out the choices before us.
First point. If freedom is being able to act for ourselves and "not to be acted upon" 2 Nephi 2:26, then at some point we must have the capacity to make decisions upon which are predicated.. There can be no freedom without a decision maker, an intelligent being. Man is a conscious, thinking entity, thus fulfilling the first requirement for freedom.
Second point is the need for a knowledge of good and evil. this is an indispensable element for freedom. Moses 6:56
"It is given unto them to know good from evil; wherefore they are agents unto themselves
The relationship between freedom and the knowledge of good and evil is a topic discussed from many prophets of old. Samuel the Lamanite declared in Helaman 14:30-31
for behold, God hath given unto you a knowledge and he hath made you free.
Helaman 14:31
31 He hath given unto you that ye might know good from evil, and he hath given unto you
that ye might choose life or death; and ye can do good and be restored unto that which is
good, or have that which is good restored unto you; or ye can do evil, and have that which
is evil restored unto you.
2 Nephi 2:18,23
2 Nephi 2:18
18 And because he had fallen from heaven, and had become miserable forever, he sought also
the misery of all mankind. Wherefore, he said unto Eve, yea, even that old serpent, who is
the devil, who is the father of all lies, wherefore he said: Partake of the forbidden
fruit, and ye shall not die, but ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.
2 Nephi 2:23
23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of
innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
Alma 12:31-32
Alma 12:31
31 Wherefore, he gave commandments unto men, they having first transgressed the first
commandments as to things which were temporal, and becoming as Gods, knowing good from
evil, placing themselves in a state to act, or being placed in a state to act according to
their wills and pleasures, whether to do evil or to do good--
Alma 12:32
32 Therefore God gave unto them commandments, after having made known unto them the plan
of redemption, that they should not do evil, the penalty thereof being a second death,
which was an everlasting death as to things pertaining unto righteousness; for on such the
plan of redemption could have no power, for the works of justice could not be destroyed,
according to the supreme goodness of God.
Of course if God wanted make sure that mankind couldn't partake of the fruit He didn't need to forbid it was enough to do the same like He did with the tree of life, it was enough to protect it. If to partake the fruit of good and evil were so terrible, sure God would have taken all the precautions, or not, remember God can't be mocked, He knows the end from the very beginning and the lamb was PREPARED from the foundation of the world, why? Because it was well planned.
Continuing from the same book p 253
At first glance, one might be led to believe that the fall, independent of Christ's atonement, was the deliver of thet knowledge sufficient enough to make man free. In truth, it was a vital connection, but it was just the beginning. The fall opened doors that had previously been sealed, and eyes that had previously been shut. His was essential, but it was just the beginning. With increased knowledge comes the opportunity for increased freedom. Like I wrote before "Know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
John 8:36
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
This is the essence of freedom, to know the savior and obey His truths. As we do so, we become free from prejudice, sin, contention and every other bad thing. While the fall opened the gate to the road of knowledge, it was the Atonement that provided the car to proceed. Trough the Atonement we are cleansed in the waters of baptism, making us eligible for the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is such a gift that will guide us in the whole truth.
The third element is the availability of choices.
Moses 3:17 "thou mayest choose for thyself, for it is given unto thee" As God intended man to become as he, it was necessary that he should first make him free. Were it not for the atonement, there would be no choice between eternal life and eternal damnation. The Fall would have opened the gate to one road and one only. 2 Nephi 9:7-8
2 Nephi 9:7
7 Wherefore, it must needs be an infinite atonement--save it should be an infinite
atonement this corruption could not put on incorruption. Wherefore, the first judgment
which came upon man must needs have remained to an endless duration. And if so, this flesh
must have laid down to rot and to crumble to its mother earth, to rise no more.
2 Nephi 9:8
8 O the wisdom of God, his mercy and grace! For behold, if the flesh should rise no more
our spirits must become subject to that angel who fell from before the presence of the
Eternal God, and became the devil, to rise no more.
Lehi taught in 2 Nephi 2:26-27
2 Nephi 2:26
26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men
from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become FREE
FOREVER, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it
be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments
which God hath given.
2 Nephi 2:27
27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are
expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the
great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity
and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.
The fourth element is the power to execute the choices before us. We may have knowledge of good and evil, we may even have choices placed before us; but unless we have power to execute, the power to fulfill, then our freedom is but a facade. We are somewhat like an astronomer who with his naked eye looks into the starry sky with the intent to spotting Neptune. however long he scans the heavens, however intent his gaze may be, he will look in vain. Now give him a telescope and what vision he beholds! The issue is not knowledge, for he knows with precision the celestial siting. The issue is not choice, for he has the option to look or not to look without obstruction, The issue is simply power, the power to see. God has a vast inventory of spiritual telescopes, hearing aids, time capsules, and power enhancing tools to enrich our lives and make us free to see and hear and do without restraint. All men have some power from God D&A 58:27-28
D&C 58:27
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of
their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
D&C 58:28
28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men
do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.
How we can enhance this power? History has long confirmed that knowledge is the precursor of power. It is knowledge that has expanded space, conquered disease, hastend speed of travel and so on. God does not belittle these powers acquired from secular learning, He encourages such pursuits. He invites our mastery "of things both in heaven and in the earth"
While God is certainly a proponent of earthly knowledge, he also wants us to know that powers of a higher source flow from the acquisition of spiritual truths. It is a spiritual power that parted the red sea, and so on. This unseen force it is the power of God. With each new power acquired, we develop greater control not only of the elements but of our destiny. In this way, we become the driver, not the driven, the cause rather than the effect. While knowledge is essential to the acquisition of power, there is yet another ingredient, often ignored, and sometimes even ridiculed, that is a prerequisite to receiving the "higher" powers. OBEDIENCE!!
Obedience a key to freedom.
Like I wrote before some could contend that freedom come when there are no laws or
restraints. But Nephi prophesied in 2 Nephi 28:7
7 Yea, and there shall be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we
die; and it shall be well with us.
Mormon 8:31
31 Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be great pollutions upon the face of the
earth; there shall be murders, and robbing, and lying, and deceivings, and whoredoms, and
all manner of abominations; when there shall be many who will say, Do this, or do that,
and it mattereth not, for the Lord will uphold such at the last day. But wo unto such for
they are in the gall of bitterness and in the bonds of iniquity.
Does it not seem ironic that such a philosophy is authored by the master slave himself? It
was he who was cast out of heaven, who was deprived of a body, who will be bound a
thousand years, and who will ultimately be banished to outer darkness. The freedom he
promises is illusory; it is a mirage on the desert, it is the very condition that has
always eluded his grasp. It was the same lie promulgated by Cain after he slew
Abel:"I am free!" Moses 5:33. In truth, he was never in more bondage.
The Lord declared that He made Adam "an agent to himself" and then shared the
divine sequel to maintaining and developing such agency:" and I gave unto him
commandments" D&A 29:35. In other words, if there were no commandments and no
obedience to them, man would soon see his newly acquired agency in irreversible decline.
Why? Because the commandments are fair and holy. The right word for them should be
"suggestions". God never bound mankind to obey his commandments, that was
the plan of Satan. God gave "suggestions" like a good father is saying to his
children :"don't touch the fire!" There are natural laws that can't be
broken, no matter how much love the parent has for his children, he can only warn them
against doing something, but if they do the consequences are not a revenge of the father
but just a natural consequence of a broken law.
So a loveling and tender God was just warning mankind of troubles and problems. Every
person can acknowledge easily, by the light of Christ (or conscience) the perfect justice
in these "suggestions". They are the agents by which we are free from sins, or
better from breaking natural laws and then paying for their consequences, obeying is
not a matter of constriction but a matter of freedom. Commandments are, in reality,
perfect suggestions for the health, physical, mental and spiritual and are the real means
by which the light of Christ (or conscience) can be exercised for the total and perfect
control psycophisic and spiritual to not pay consequences known or unknown.
So mankind, obeying these suggestions, can be freeded from the terrible consequences, or
penalties of the natural law broken.
Tad Callister made a very good point in his book saying:" There are a number of
spiritual truths that must seem like irreconcilable ironies to the secular
world:"Humility breeds strength, faith nurtures visions, and OBEDIENCE BRINGS
FREEDOM." Obedience unlocks the doors of knowledge, knowledge is a prerequisite of
godhead, and godhead is the apogee of freedom. In fact God can do everything but always
obeying and respecting the laws.
Why Jesus is the life?
John 1:2-3
John 1:3
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
He gave the life to everything for this reason he was supposed to restore mankind in his
natural position by....
John 1:4
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:9
9 [That] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
(light of Christ)
John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to
them that believe on his name:
Who accept the Gospel become like Jesus a real son of God, because from that moment on he
is on the path
He became again the life after His resurrection, infect He said "I am the
resurrection and the life"
John 11:25
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,
though he were dead, yet shall he live:
So the great Creator, the great Jehovah had to give his personal life to restore our life
and further we will see in what way this should happen.
Romans 8:11-16
Romans 8:11
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that
raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that
dwelleth in you.
Romans 8:12
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Romans 8:13
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify
the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Romans 8:14
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:15
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the
Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Romans 8:16
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Romans 8:17
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be
that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.
Why was it necessary to shed the blood to atone and purify?
Why should this be? Why it was necessary that his blood should be shed, is an apparent
mystery. It is true that we are told that without the shedding of blood there is no
remission of sins. But why this? Why should such a law exist? It is left with us as a
matter of faith, it was necessary that he should come and, being necessary, he
shrank not from the task, but came to take away sin by offering up himself.JD,
10:114, February 22, 1863.
The scripture declares: Genesis 9:4
4 But flesh with the life thereof, [which is] the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
In the blood there is the life but even the corruption, in fact the last Adam will be
1 Corinthians 15:42
42 So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in
incorruption:
1 Corinthians 15:43
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in
power:
1 Corinthians 15:44
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and
there is a spiritual body.
1 Corinthians 15:45
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [was
made] a quickening SPIRIT
Many people tried to give an answer to this question but so far no one was able to give a sharp explanation, therefore my attempt is just my personal opinion and could be wrong or right. God gave an important clue when declared Leviticus 17:11
Leviticus 17:11
11 For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for
the soul.
The life is in the blood, and according to the scriptures the sin brought the death, according to the first leaders of the church the blood gives the life but it is also responsible for the physical decay, like it is stated in 1 Corinthians 15:42-53
Blood redeems because it is the power by which in this life we have life. The woman who deliver life has her menstrual course and when it is over she loose even her power to generate. Therefore to shed blood, spontaneously, it is the supreme gift of the life itself which is given to ransom something. The human mistake generate wrathfulness or disdain when it is done voluntarily, the shedding of blood when is done spontaneously, like in the case of Christ, generate compassion or admiration and great respect now it is more clear why it is written in Lama 42:13,15,17-20,22-24
Alma 42:13
13 Therefore, according to justice, the plan of redemption could not be brought about,
only on conditions of repentance of men in this probationary state, yea, this preparatory
state; for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it
should destroy the work of justice. Now the work of justice could not be destroyed; if so,
God would cease to be God.
Alma 42:15
15 And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an atonement should be
made; therefore God himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of
mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might be a perfect, just God, and a
merciful God also.
Alma 42:17
17 Now, how could a man repent except he should sin? How could he sin if there was no law?
How could there be a law save there was a punishment?
Alma 42:18
18 Now, there was a punishment affixed, and a just law given, which brought remorse of
conscience unto man.
Alma 42:19
19 Now, if there was no law given--if a man murdered he should die--would he be afraid he
would die if he should murder?
Alma 42:20
20 And also, if there was no law given against sin men would not be afraid to sin.
. Alma 42:22
22 But there is a law given, and a punishment affixed, and a repentance granted; which
repentance, mercy claimeth; otherwise, justice claimeth the creature and executeth the
law, and the law inflicteth the punishment; if not so, the works of justice would be
destroyed, and God would cease to be God.
Alma 42:23
23 But God ceaseth not to be God, and mercy claimeth the penitent, and mercy cometh
because of the atonement; and the atonement bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead;
and the resurrection of the dead bringeth back men into the presence of God; and thus they
are restored into his presence, to be judged according to their works, according to the
law and justice.
Alma 42:24
24 For behold, justice exerciseth all his demands, and also mercy claimeth all which is
her own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved.
Alma 12:32-34
Alma 12:33
33 But God did call on men, in the name of his Son, (this being the plan of redemption
which was laid) saying: If ye will repent and harden not your hearts, then will I have
mercy upon you, through mine Only Begotten Son;
Alma 12:34
34 Therefore, whosoever repenteth, and hardeneth not his heart, he shall have claim on
mercy through mine Only Begotten Son, unto a remission of his sins; and these shall enter
into my rest.
according to justice, the plan of redemption could not be brought about, only on
conditions of repentance of men in this probationary state, So Justice required repentance
or for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it should
destroy the work of justice and, And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about
except an atonement should be made; therefore God himself atoneth for the sins of the
world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might
be a perfect, just God, and a merciful God also. and 17 Now, how could a man repent except
he should sin? How could he sin if there was no law? How could there be a law save there
was a punishment?
Alma 42:24
24 For behold, justice exerciseth all his demands, and also mercy claimeth all which is
her own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved.
Those two qualities are the perfect balance in God
Psalms 89:14
14 Justice and judgment [are] the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go
before thy face
2 Nephi 11:5
5 And also my soul delighteth in the covenants of the Lord which he hath made to our
fathers; yea, my soul delighteth in his grace, and in his justice, and power, and mercy in
the great and eternal plan of deliverance from death.
Jacob 4:10
For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works.
Mosiah 3:26
26 Therefore, they have drunk out of the cup of the wrath of God, which justice could no
more deny unto them than it could deny that Adam should fall because of his partaking of
the forbidden fruit; therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever.
Mosiah 5:15
15 Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good
works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to
heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and
power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who
is God above all. Amen.
Mosiah 15:5
5 And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one
God, suffereth temptation, and yieldeth not to the temptation, but suffereth himself to be
mocked, and scourged, and cast out, and disowned by his people.
Mosiah 15:6
6 And after all this, after working many mighty miracles among the children of men, he
shall be led, yea, even as Isaiah said, as a sheep before the shearer is dumb, so he
opened not his mouth.
Mosiah 15:7
7 Yea, even so he shall be led, crucified, and slain, the flesh becoming subject even unto
death, the will of the Son being swallowed up in the will of the Father.
Mosiah 15:8
8 And thus God breaketh the bands of death, having gained the victory over death; giving
the Son power to make intercession for the children of men--
Mosiah 15:9
9 Having ascended into heaven, having the bowels of mercy; being filled with compassion
towards the children of men; standing betwixt them and justice; having broken the bands of
death, taken upon himself their iniquity and their transgressions, having redeemed them,
and satisfied the demands of justice.
Alma 34:10
10 For it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice; yea, not a
sacrifice of man, neither of beast, neither of any manner of fowl; for it shall not be a
human sacrifice; but it must be an infinite and eternal sacrifice.
Alma 34:11
11 Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own blood which will atone for the sins
of another. Now, if a man murdereth, behold will our law, which is just, take the life of
his brother? I say unto you, Nay.
Alma 34:12
12 But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered; therefore there can be nothing
which is short of an infinite atonement which will suffice for the sins of the world.
Alma 34:13
13 Therefore, it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice, and then
shall there be, or it is expedient there should be, a stop to the shedding of blood; then
shall the law of Moses be fulfilled; yea, it shall be all fulfilled, every jot and tittle,
and none shall have passed away.
Alma 34:14
14 And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and
last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite
and eternal.
Alma 34:15
15 And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this
being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which
overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto
repentance.
Alma 34:16
16 And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of
safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of
the demands of justice
This is the real key for this topic.
to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance.
Alma 42:30
30 O my son, I desire that ye should deny the justice of God no more. Do not endeavor to
excuse yourself in the least point because of your sins, by denying the justice of God;
but do you let the justice of God, and his mercy, and his long-suffering have full sway in
your heart; and let it bring you down to the dust in humility.
Alma 42:31
31 And now, O my son, ye are called of God to preach the word unto this people. And now,
my son, go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring
souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have claim upon them. And may God
grant unto you even according to my words. Amen.
this should be our purpose.
The blood of Israle, often mentioned in the scriptures is the blood of the covenant that is chosen by covenant and obedience.
There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved Acts 4:12
That name is Jesus Christ. No one else has the power to take us back: not even Elohim, our father. the scriptures point to the reason why. God has to apply justice and justice required:
John Taylor, Mediation and Atonement, Ch.11
There are other questions mixed up with this rebellion besides those above referred to,
and those questions are directly connected with the atonement. In the event of man having
his free will and being subject to the power of temptation, the weakness of the flesh, the
allurements of the world, and the powers of darkness, it was known that he must
necessarily fall, and being fallen, it would be impossible for him to redeem himself, and
that, according to an eternal law of justice, it would require an infinite, expiatory
atonement to redeem man, to save him from the effects and ruin of the Fall, and to place
him in a condition where he could again reinstated in the favor of God, according to the
eternal laws of justice and mercy; and find his way back to the presence of the Father.
Satan (it is possible) being opposed to the will of his Father, wished to avoid the
responsibilities of this position, and rather than assume the consequences of the
acceptance of the plan of the Father, he would deprive man of his free agency, and render
it impossible for him to obtain that exaltation which God designed. It would further seem
probable that he refused to take the position of redeemer, and assume all the consequences
associated therewith, but he did propose, as stated before, to take another plan and
deprive man of his agency, and he probably intended to make men atone for their own acts
by an act of coercion, and the shedding of their own blood as an atonement for their sins;
therefore, he says, "I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost; and
surely I will do it; wherefore, give me thine honor." His plan, however, was rejected
as contrary to the counsel of God, his Father, The well beloved Son than addressed the
Father, and instead of proposing to carry out any plan of his own, knowing what His
Father's will was, said, "Thy will be done;" 'I will carry out thy plans and thy
designs, and, as man will fall, I will offer myself as an atonement according to thy will,
O God. Neither do I wish the honor, but thine be the glory;'" and a covenant was
entered into between Him and His Father, in which He agreed to atone for the sins of the
world; and He thus, as stated, became the Lamb slain from before the foundation of the
world,
"Therefore, according to justice, the plan of redemption could not be brought about, only on conditions of repentance of men in this probationary state, yea, this preparatory state; for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it should destroy the work of justice"
Only Jesus could perform all of this and teach us about repentance or better to wash
our clothings in his blood.
What if the people will not repent?
Mosiah 2:38
38 Therefore if that man repenteth not, and remaineth and dieth an enemy to God, the
demands of divine justice do awaken his immortal soul to a lively sense of his own guilt,
which doth cause him to shrink from the presence of the Lord, and doth fill his breast
with guilt, and pain, and anguish, which is like an unquenchable fire, whose flame
ascendeth up forever and ever.
Mosiah 2:39
39 And now I say unto you, that mercy hath no claim on that man; therefore his final doom
is to endure a never-ending torment.
this is what mankind is supposed to do
Mosiah 3:19
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will
be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth
off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and
becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to
all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to
his father.
D&C 88:35
35 That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto
itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot be sanctified
by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment. Therefore, they must remain filthy still.
D&A 45:4-5 is clear on this topic
D&C 45:4
4 Saying: Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast
well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou
gavest that thyself might be glorified;
D&C 45:5
5 Wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come
unto me and have everlasting life.
It is trough the shedding of His perfect blood and the suffering He endured spontaneously that He can rescue us and we are just SPARED because of Him, He lived a perfect life we could try to live it at our best with many means like Holy Ghost and His gifts, but the most important of all for us is the gift of repentance the only one that Jesus never used.
The word sacrifice comes from Latin and means "to make holy" Sacrament comes from Latin too and means" sacred moment, or holy moment". The symbolism of the atonement is that a vital power, in this case an infinite vital power, is given to nullify a power that has the power to kill..
So like one man (Adam) generated the fallen for all mankind, no guilty for that, also Christ, another man during His life, atoned for that transgression (this is the grace given to to who is born in this fallen state without guilty) but not only for that one transgression, if mankind accept Christ and His Gospel, accepting the ordinances and using the gift of repentance, and that is to have faith in Him and in His atonement they can wash their sins (trough repentance) in His blood..
The idea of a special blood is clearly identified in the scriptures and it is imperative to try to better understand this point to better understand how Jesus could atone for us.
The forbidden fruit contained the germs of death, in fact according to the scripture it is the sin that generate death, but without the knowledge of good and evil it is impossible to sin. That is why the little children and people without intellect are redeemed by the atonement of Jesus, they couldn't sin and they die just because of the fallen, the fallen introduced death
Romans 5:12
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death
passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
for that all have sinned: always in Roman there is an interesting comparationlike a man transgressing brought death to all mankind so even Christ living a perfect life, just one person like Adam, could demand to have the same result on mankind. Christ had the power on death for two main reason, the first because He had a divine Father, but this was no the main reason by which He had power on death, because if , by chance he had sinned He could be subject to death according to explanation of Paul. The main reason because He had the power on death was simply because He never sinned. This was the real reason why He could declared in John 10
John 10:17
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it
again.
John 10:18
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and
I have power to take it again.
Therefore His death was indeed a true gift from His free agency. Christ had the power Hebrew 7:16
Hebrews 7:16
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an
endless life.
In my Italian Bible the word endless is translated with the word "insolvable" that gives an idea of something real "flawless" anyway can use the word endless because He never sinned so His life was really endless
Romans 8:10
10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is]
life because of righteousness.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify
the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Thi is the key Christ living a perfect life PRODUCED in His human body the perfect ,
infinite antibodies . He like a man won the world and showed that man can be perfect and
therefore being mankind involved in the fallen even if innocent, but only because
offspring of Adam, mankind could become offspring of Jesus because they are real brothers
in this life and therefore for the same principle they could be redeemed so by grace all
mankind receive resurrection according to the scriptures but the scriptures are speaking
even regarding a judgment according to the works and also Jesus Taught that in His house
there are many mansions.
