One of the most important names for GOD in the old testament is Yahweh, or Jehovah. meaning, "I AM that I AM." and "I WILL be who I WILL be." The Hebrew word YHWH was the name by which GOD revealed Himself to Moses in the burning bush. The bush burns like a fire with His love and His righteousness, yet remains a burning fire for ever and ever, for all mankind to see as a Holy light. Some may translate the English word GOD to be Jehovah, while others use YAHWEH.

GOD in the first refers to the central and sole object of worship and center for prayer, and religious commitment and meditation. GOD is the Holy Spirit and He is JESUS CHRIST the one who gave up His life died on the cross and shed His blood for all our sins. that is the christians belief. GOD is the one who gave us life and salvation, and the world that we live in and all that we can see and hear He made that is the "great I AM." Moses was called to proclaim deliverance to the people and was told by GOD, "thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you."

With the deliverance of the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt, GOD SHOWED Moses a deeper meaning to his name. Than He did to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They called on the name of the Lord YAHWEH. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did not know the fuller meaning of Yahweh, like Moses did. The divine name Yahweh is translated Lord in the English versions of the Bible. Because it was a practice for the jews in the old testament not to used the sacred name YHWH. But to say instead "my Lord," (Adonai) a practice still used today in the Synagogue. Many christians use the word YAHWEH, and do not hesitate to call the name YAHWEH when they pray to Him, because JESUS CHRIST taught believers to speak in a familiar way to GOD.
