Mon Apr 29 10:38 EDT 1996 Weekend Update: April 27-28 (I discovered that I hadn't kept my distribution lists up to date. If you don't want to receive "Weekend Updates" just let me know.) On Saturday we took the plastic off the screens on our porch, exposing the porch and our spa to the ravages of the cool Spring air; and it has been windy recently. Now the wind chimes have an opportunity to exercize their purpose for being created. Miranda and Jessica were at a teen fund raising car wash, while Emily and Andrew attended a birthday party. Jessie came home rather red-faced about her first long exposure to the sun this year. So much for exposing. Saturday evening we invited the Magunusons, the Bickoms, the Foxes, and Tom Crittenden up for an evening of fellowship. The ladies had a time talking about Tea, the event. Did you know that (if you put milk in your tea) you are supposed to put the milk in before the tea? I asked a native Brit about this and she confirmed this factoid but couldn't tell me why this was proper etiquette. Also, never put your teabag in the cup; alwasy in the teapot (if you're not brewing your own leaves). I think it is all rather nice but it won't change my tea drinking habits. (Incidentally, we had teryaki chicken on the grill. Yum!) Sunday was nice and easy. I got to sing twice, backfilling for people who could not otherwise meet their scheduled obligation. For me, it is always a pleasure. For the interested and old timers, I sang "In the Garden" and "Submission" (morning and evening; different churches). I'm a lucky guy. (One other interesting note. Last Sunday night, I was asked to fill in to lead the singing in church at Lowell, but I declined saying that I was going to be in Quincy with the hopes of hearing my dad preach. Well, he didn't preach, but they had a missionary who gave an excellent message. The funny part is that when I got to church, I was asked to fill in on the sound system. Always a pleasure.) Sunday evening was family fun, just us kind of grab what you like from the fridge and watch some TV together warm and cozy atmosphere. Mother's Day approaches and that will mark our 17th wedding anniversary. Did I mention that I'm a lucky guy? If any of you are in the area, you're invited in for Coke, the event, where I will discuss with you the best and alternative ways to drink Coca-Cola. (Best is straight in a frosted glass glass or mug. Alternative ways are with ice when there is no time to chill, and guzzling from the bottle when you just gotta have it now!)
