Mon Aug 5 09:04 EDT 1996 Weekend Update: August 3-4 I missed Friday's playoff game because it was in Derry, NH and no one bothered to give me directions. I think it was on purpose. I heard that the Home Team retired their season so softball is over for 1996. Saturday was a fairly leisurely day, spent part of the time at the church waiting and waiting for the bus to arrive with Miranda, back from camp. We thought the buss was to arrive between 11:30 and 12 but they thought it was to arrive around 2. Sunday's excitement was at MPC, another full crowd (I love it like that) but it leaves one pretty tired on Monday morning. Of course, staying up to watch the Olympic closing ceremonies doesn't help getting my rest. I admit that my torch went out (and to bed) before the Olympic Torch was extinguished. House: we reran our Boston Globe ad, and got a ton of calls yesterday, but none of them were about the house! Well, except for this one realtor. Soapbox: Our standard line to the realtors is that they are welcome to co-broke the property, which means they are more than welcome to bring clients through and get their 3%, which is what they would get if they sold our house to a client through a different real estate broker. But we have discovered is that they have NO INTEREST in co-broking and every interest in listing us. If they brought clients to our for sale by owner (FSBO) home, it would cut into their MLS-incestuous racket and give them no advertising. Imagine if most people started to sell by owner... these guys have an interest in NOT selling our house. An interesting side note: one of my coworkers said that she'd be nervous buying from an owner instead of a broker for fear that she would be getting ripped off by an amateur. I replied, "so you would rather be ripped off by a professional? That would make you feel better to know that 'at least I was ripped off by a pro, and not some two-bit amateur'?" Jessica Rose is off to camp this week, then we'll be done with camps for the summer (and summer is almost over). Up this week: Softball with some colleagues at work. Back to the Concord NH Auction with a bunch of people, including my neice-in-law-to-be, Erin. Back to the waterfalls of the Basin in NH White Mountains (These are the specials in addition to the regular time fillers.)
