Mon Oct 28 13:53 EST 1996 Weekend Update: October 25-27 Last week during all of the rain New England got, we held an Open House, advertised in the Nashua paper. The punny thing to say was that it was a wash out. We've since decided to put the effort on hold until after the holidays so that we can relax and enjoy them with family, friends, and frenetic activity. Starting the freneticism, Joy has wanted a dishwasher for some time. She has reasoned that it will help to sell the house and in the time we take to sell it, we can have benefit of using it. I have noticed that the other dishwashers (the kids) have been doing less than stellar about getting the stuff off the glasses. So we went to Building 19-1/15, a discount place, and bought a scratch-n-dent version of a nice built-in washer. Trouble is, I have to build it in because there is no place in the existing cabinets to do so. So we picked up the dish washer on Friday, and went to Home Depot on Saturday to buy materials to enclose the beast. Oh wait, Saturday started by helping to move one of the elderly widows in our church to a new apartment. I helped pack but left the others to unpack since they had more than enough workers - I mean lots of people. So I went home and resurfaced my driveway, which took about an hour. THEN I went to Home depot. Then I went to practice for the Christmas presentation. Sunday was the usual: church, rest, church, company, soak. Today, I had my final Jury Duty and they let us go without being selected. I guess that all those lawyers were making deals at the last minute. I'm very glad to not have to hang 'em high and let the November group of citizens ensure that the judicial system continues to guarantee our right to fair and impartial judgments. Oh, yeah, and one more thing in reference to how I started this note out: Joy called me a few minutes ago and said a woman called her to see the house. She had driven by and wanted to see it; Joy put her off for 20 minutes but she didn't care how relaxed we'd become. She ooh-ed and ah-ed throughout the house. Wouldn't it just be ironic if we sold the house this way after spending money on advertizing? Well, we're relaxed about it all at the moment. Other opportunities have come and gone. And it's not I'd get to move in time to vote against John Kerry anyway. And I still have that dishwasher to enclose, after the plumber (Hi Trish!) comes by to do his thing. (Tuesday night, right?)
