Wed Dec 4 07:46 EST 1996 I almost forgot to brag I need to brag on my kids every once in a while. Maybe it should be a parental requirement, even duty! Perhaps you think I brag on them too much, or that they just shine so much that they don't need their father's help in touting their accomplishments. Sometimes, people like Miranda do shine so much that they actually get very little praise (under the guise of not wanting to inflate the ego, or hurt other people's feelings, but don't get me started down that path). Last night, Joy and I sat in the back row of Nashua High School auditorium passing the time away pronouncing the names of 105 students on the program and opining on what some of these kids will be in the work-a-day world. We picked out the computer nerds easily, and saw a few "psycologists" in the bunch. Last night, adding to her accolades, she was inducted into the Natioanl Honor Society. Miranda was number 75 on the list, but number 1 in many ways to us. The program didn't matter, and the certificate didn't matter. My dad has a phrase about "not thanking an angel to come down and tell you" something when you know a truth so firmly already. But Miranda matters and I'm proud as a peacock over my 16-year old for being recognized by her peers and her teachers for her scholastic acheivenments and her moral character.
