June 14-16

June 14th was Flag Day and my grandparents' 69th wedding anniversary.
My plans changed several times, mostly due to my gimpy paw, which is
doing better but still sore, thank you.  I was going to help some
friends move some of the heavy stuff from one house to the next.
I didn't hurt my foot on purpose, I promise.  I also received very
tempting invitations to chow down, but Andrew's baseball game
pre-empted the meat of the day.  He got on base (by walks) most
of the time.  He has one more game, and his first season is history.
The teens of the family speant a gruelling four hours planning teen
activities for the next 3-4 months.  After all this, we were put to
work at the labor camp (a term borrowed from my wife's brother-in-law).
Most of the family weeded.  I gimped.  They weeded some more.  I gimped
some more.  Actually, I did finish leveling a dirt pile on the side yard,
put in six to eight feet of a brick walkway into the garden, and turned
over the compost pile (all done while gimping).

The pool remains our frustration point.  It is still green after 17 days!
Part of me knows it is the conversion from Baquacil to chlorine, but
we're about panicked about it.  We leave for Texas in a very short while
and have house guests staying while we are away.  We want to leave them
with only small maintenance on the pool so they can enjoy it.  We dumped
5 gallons of liquid chlorine in yesterday and 5 more this morning under
the advice of the pool guys who tested our water.  We'll dump the remaining
5 gallons in tomorrow. The pool guys said that "we're almost there" through
our conversion, but to see no improvement overnight is discouraging.

Last night, the church honored the graduating teens.  It's our turn,
next year.  Oi!
