Mon Sep 8 08:08 EDT 1997 Weekend Update: September 5-7 I taped the funeral and watched it late Saturday night, fast forwarding over some of the songs so I could get to bed. Why can't the whole world have a single time zone? Someone ought to make a law! The Big Event of the weekend was the Choir picnic at the Manor. Friday night we made final preparations (they're never really final, you know). Saturday, we served teryaki chicken, chinese pork, beef in two marinades (and each in no marinade), corn on the cob, mom's [now] famous bean pot (not limas, thank you), and vegetables and fruit from Joy's gardens. We had several brave souls in the chilly pool water and two horse shoe pits; well, they are now. ;-) We want to put one pit out behind the pool next Spring for year-round enjoyment. The other pit will regrow its grass (out by the blueberries). Emily went with her Sunday School class to Canobie Lake Amusement Park. I confess that I find no amusement at such parks anymore. Maybe a water theme park on a hot summer day, but then, I'm too cheap for those. We're expecting unsettled weather here this week in New England. Some of the trees have even begun to turn in early. So that means pool closing, and other preparations for the winter. Can't be the grasshopper all the time, I suppose. I walked in this morning thinking, "Sometimes life is full, and other times it is just filled." I hope that what I fill my life with in the coming months will make life full instead of just filled; take time (make time) for the important things.
