Thu Oct 9 11:53 EDT 1997 'Tis the Season for New England Fa la la la la, la la la la. I have been taking the backroads into work everyday since Labor Day. It seems everyone wants to jam Route 3 at the same time. It adds 7 minutes to my optimum commute time but the scenery is spectacular. Our area of the country is reaching its peak in colors. We have two enormous maple trees overspreading our yard that look like a still frame of an exploding firework. The outer edges show brilliant redish orange, paling to yellow, and then the green remnants of the summer gone by in the center. I know that soon these two maples and several other towering timbers will provide large jumping piles headed for the compost heap, but for now, there isn't a better place to be than New England. Over the weekend, we'll doff our shoes to walk the sandy beaches of Cape Cod, dipping our feet in the chilly water, and searching for sea shells. We'll spend some hours with friends. What can be more satisfying? I hope you will have a great weekend, and pause long enough to enjoy it. Mark Surfin' *** Mark Metcalfe the *** \o Cadence Design Systems, Inc.
