Subject: Weekend Update: November 5-8 Date: Mon 11/9/98 9:19am Last Thursday night, I took Joy (Joy_Metcalfe@juno.com) out to Charley's Eating and Drinking Saloon where we ate and drank in celebration of her birthday which is this coming Thursday (11/12). This week will be busier than last so we celebrated the passage of time when time would allow. On Friday afternoon, my parents brought up some visitors from Scotland for an afternoon at the Manor. We discovered that their guests were much more fond of ginger beer than they were about root beer; they were very clear about that! After dinner, Joy whisked off to the church for a children's Christmas musical rehearsal and later on that evening, Tom and Erin (nephew and wife) breezed in from Connecticutt for a couple of over-nighters. Saturday, I dashed the teens to the church for a district event, then shuffled Joy off to the Pepperell Craft Fair. I recollected the teens in the afternoon, bundled Joy and the goods she hadn't sold and shuttled them home for 25 minutes while I sizzled some burgers and dogs for Joy and me to take with us as we trekked to Londonderrty for a Toonerville Rook Tournament. After losing miserably, we wended homeward. Tom and Erin returned with Charity (our niece) for the night. On Sunday afternoon, a visitor from Puerto Rico (Bill Rapien) accompanied us home for Sunday dinner and a relaxing afternoon - since we were able to turn off the Patriots after the first quarter. Now, all that sounds like a lot of your weekends with kids in soccer or other sports; not unusual for you guys either. I don't know how some of you do it! Joy sold all of her cozies, a bean-bag-like natural heating pad that you pop in the microwave for a couple of minutes and it stays warm for 30 minutes or more. She had the help of a hawker (me) who brought the microwave oven to the craft fair and handed a warm cozy to people who would pass by the table. Joy even made a Beanie-Baby-sized cozy teddy bear, which I predict will be the next sensational item that won't keep pace with demand. By the way, my firewood finally got delivered and I have two of the three cord sitting in my driveway. I told Mandy that the young man whom I refer to as "that young man" is invited to come back for a visit while the driveway is full. B^) Also by the way, our very own illustrious Jessica Rose made the National Honor Society. She's already been inducted into the Family Honor Society for some time now. I don't know how one gets into the National Honor Society (since I never did). Someone might want to ask my mother. (For those of you in CATXFLAG (CA, FL, TX, and GA), it is windshield scraping weather up here. Remember that? Brrrrrr.)
