Subject: Weekend Update: December 3-6 Date: Mon 12/7/98 8:34am Most of you know that we're having unusual weather here in New England. It has been especially fortunate for me while I make pool reparations. Jim Hedlund found at least 30 holes in the deep end. I told you guys: No spurs in the pool! Jim surmises that rough gravel was used when the pool was put in - a fairly common difficulty for pool liners between 5 and 10 years old. We tried refilling the pool from the kitchen faucet, hoping to avoid turning on the water to the outside which I'd already winterized. Pastor laughed at us and suggested spitting into the pool might fill it faster. So, we opened the outside lines and put three hoses in to raise the water level. I know I'm going to hate next month's water bill. It had been a long while, so Joy and I spent the drive up to Concord, NH last Thursday evening to attend Garth Millett's weekly auction action. Ever since the Pepperell Auction closed down (he wasn't making enough on commission; good for us, bad for him and his consigners), we've snatched a few auctions in places like Nashua and Chelmsford, but the prices were way over our heads. We had lots of fun and fun with a few lots. We're headed up there tonight for the final auction of the year. Friday night, the church teens held the Christmas party at the Manor and they did what teens do; had a good time. This was while Joy was off to the church preparing for the children's Christmas musical (Dec. 20, 10AM). Which reminds me: You are invited to any and all of the following Christmas season events: December 11, Friday 7:30 PM Church Christmas Canata and Pageant December 13, Sunday 6 PM Church Christmas Canata and Pageant December 20, Sunday 10 AM Church Children's Christmas Musical Drama December 23, Wednesday 6:30 PM Christmas at the Manor That last event is not a church-sponsored event; that's our Christmas party for all of our friends. Church events are canceled for Wednesday, December 23, freeing the evening up for those of you who will have their shopping all done before the 23rd. Joy has decorated the house beautifully this year (although we are one tree shy because Mandy took hers to college with her). But the decorations are unfulfilling without the warmth of friends to share them with. We hope you will come and enjoy some caroling, refreshments, and fellowship with us on Wednesday, December 23 beginning at 6:30 PM.
