These withring limbs with thee I trust, to raise them strong and fair'."

Van Woert for the farm located in Pittstown and occupied by his son Jacob Lansing Van Woert (deceased) to Abraham Van Woert. This is probably why Irving decided Abraham was Jacob L.ansing V.W.'s son. In the Van Aernum family records held by Mrs. Luckhurst, Abraham is not mentioned which means he could be the son of one of John J. Van Woert's other sons. Notes: Saratoga Co. deeds (book:pg) X:190; X:191; X:192; M.M.:254; U.U.:2; Letters of administration granted to Seth W. Higgins and John Rosekrans of the town of Clifton Park on the estate of Abraham W. Van Woert of the town of Halfmoon. Abraham W. Van Woert was a physician, having graduated from the Albany Medical College, and was a member of the County Medical Society. William Tully, in his book "Fifteen years On The Frontier" writes: "when I was quite small my parents moved to Middle Town, Saratoga, Co. My father being a physician, he thought his practice would be much better in a neighborhood where he was acquainted than among strangers, opened his office and commenced practicing in Middle Town and vicinity. In that town I received my first education. He then moved to the town of Clifton Park, where he practiced until he died. I was then about nine years old. My poor mother was left with four small children (I being the eldest, and not old enough to be of any assistance whatever to her); but, being saving and economical, managed to support herself and family for a year, when my uncle came to our house and wanted me to go and live with him in the city of Troy..." William goes on to say that he went to live with his uncle until the uncle died and he returned home to be with his mother Lucena. When she died, the girls each went to live with an uncle and William headed west.

Abram Van Woert

Father: Eldert Ouderkirk Van Woert
Mother: Elizabeth (Vedder) Van Woert

Spouse: unmarried
Marriage:

Notes: A descendant of Eldert V. Van Woert and Elizabeth Fonda claimed that this Abram Van Woert was unmarried and practiced medicine at Visscher's Ferry. Mrs. Fred Blessings, of Slingerlands, NY, lived in the vicinty of Visscher's Ferry when she was a girl. She remembered very well, Dr. Van Woert who practiced medicine in that village. He was a tall red haired man who drove a spring board wagon. It was a common sight to see him driving along the road with the buggy loaded with children. Gitty Ann and Sarah Van Woert, his sisters, kept house for him. In the Eldert O. Van Woert burying plot at Visscher's Ferry, NY the names of Abram and Gertrude Ann (Gitty Ann, no doubt) are found on the monuments without the dates of birth or death. Headstones with the initials A.V.W and G.A.V.W. quite possibly belong to these two Van Woerts.

Alvia Van Woert

Father: Jacob Lansing
Mother: Rebecca Van Aernum (Arnum)

Notes: I have posted this exactly as it is found in Irving's manuscript, although Aliva is not listed among the children of Jacob Lansing Van Woert and Rebecca (Van Arnum) as given to Irving Van Woert by Mrs. Luckhurst from her Van Aernam family files. Alvia is listed as Alvia Fisher in the will of John Van Woert, Jacob Lansing's father, and is probably a grandchild. Since Irving found no record of her lineage, I believe it is just as possible that she is the married daughter of one of John's daughters or of his other sons.
