| In 1879 on December 3rd I left my Heavenly Father's home and came to this earth to dwell with my earthly parents, namely Mary Helen Martin and Joseph Robert Meredith. was born of goodly parents however, their earthly possessions were very meager -- their home was very humble -- a two room log hut with a dirt floor -- located near Bald Knob Mountain a small community called Doe Creek near Mountain Lake Virginia. My mother gave birth to five children -- namely George Washington, Samuel Elliot, Thomas Green, (myself) Lucy Ann, and Leonard H. Mother passed away August 27, 1881. Little Leonard was only a baby a few weeks old, he was born on June 18, 1881. We five children were homeless but did have wonderful grandparents -- Grandmother and Grandfather Martin who gave us a home and cared for us until Daddy could arrange for someone to take care of us. |
