December 2000/March 2001 (1st Quarter of 2001)
![]()
Current Official CROLF Members:
Henry & Wanda R.
Jeanette & Steve S.
Melissa, Scott, Myrna & Tony T.
There were several Current Official
Members Guest Participants for this past quarter.
Judy R., Russ C., Yvonne H., Megan H., and Isaac
F. were our visitors during the last six months.
Both Russ C. and Isaac F. were unsolicited visitors
and have said they would return. At this time, our
members are all anxiously waiting for one of our
visitors getting a hole-in-one. Good luck to them!Current Official CROLF Members are
looking forward to making more future guest
invitations especially when the wet and cool
weather subsides. We expect that to be right around
the corner now.Updates During the Quarter:
In Mid-March, 2001, Henry R. has changed
the field somewhat for the upcoming year of
CROLF. Due to weather and previous CROLF
participant use of the field, the field was becoming
worn out and needed some time to repair for later
use.
One of the more challenging aspects of the
field are the troughs. The T-off spots are further
away from the troughs. I bet we will see a lot more
?water balls?! There are some holes that can get
anyone at any time due to the gullys and other
topographic aspects that we accept as just obstacles.
The field is even more challenging to all
who have tried it out and we all look forward to see
our scores lower back to where they were in
previous quarters. Good Luck to all on the new
field!
Another update is that this particular issue
has been combined as the January/March issue due
to the lack of activity in both quarters. The weather
has played a big part in this inactivity. No
information has been lost and is presented here.
Thanks for your patience!
Our Website! Our website is continuing to run smoothly.
In our last issue it was reported that since
September 27, 2000, at 10:45 a.m., we received 39
hits on our site. As of March 31, 2001, at 10:00
p.m., we have now received a total of 132 hits to
our site. We are getting the word out on our
website via telling others and by our ?Home Of
Crolf? sign. Congrats to all on getting the word
out!
Just a little something more you might want
to check out is that we are rated #1 for a search on
CROLF using the www.PowerSearch.com search
engine. Their criteria for ranking is based upon
?quality and popularity?. Also, we can be found in
the search of another search engine. We are also
ranked #1 on that one also. However, there is no
stated criteria to their ranking. The search engine is
dxpnet.com in case you would like to see our
listing.
Due to some members curiosity, we have
located the World Championship for CROLF.
Unfortunately, it is not our CROLF course. We are
currently waiting word on when the Championship
is held. We do know that the yearly Championship
is held in Holland. It is good to know that others in
the world have the same interest and desire that we
do!News From the

Since the course changed on March 7, 2001,
there have been 8 holes-in-ones made. Steve S. was the first one to make a hole-in-one on the new course inspite of all the "CROLF POOH" we all went through!
The first thirty something was made by Tony T. on 3/25/01 in which he made a hole-in-one during the game. His score was a 38. That course record was lowered to a 37 on 3/29/01 by Henry R. without a hole-in-one made during the game. Impressive work guys!
Opportunities Available:
If there is something you would like to see in the upcoming Official CROLF Quarterly, feel free to suggest and even write up a story item. Submit to Jeanette S. or Henry R. The next edition is planned for July, 2001.
If you have an idea of an upcoming event, feel free to express your idea(s) to any other Current CROLF Member as all are open to hear these suggestions.
Steve's Corner:"There can only be one state of mind as you approach any profound test; total concentration, a spirit of togetherness, and strength."
Pat Riley, Parrothead & Pro Basketball CoachEach round is test of ourselves, our strength
and our togetherness. Okay , I know we are not
playing Pro basketball, but we are playing CROLF.
While concentration and strength has an
effect on our game, I tend to feel that
togetherness is CROLF?s most important aspects.
One hole-in-one is Nice, 14 hole?s in ones would
be Great, but spending quality time with friends
and family is Excellent.May the force and course be with you! STEVE
Year 2001 Tenative Tournament Dates None Scheduled At This Time Henry's Reflection of the CROLF Past:
From it's beginning in June of 1999,
"CROLF" has become a great outdoor game. All
the players have improved immensely since the
days of fall apart mallets and exploding croquet
balls. When we first started playing, high 40's,
50's, and 60's were commonplace and a 30
something only a far-away dream. In the last
quarter of 2000, there were only 4 or 5 scores of 50
among the adult regular players. We're looking
forward to the coming year.
There were 1,567 practice games played by
all in the 2000 year. There were seven tournaments
played this year in which there were 390 rounds
played. 1,957 total games were played.
In the year 1999, 40 hole-in-ones were
made. This year there have been 71 hole-in-ones
made for an over-all total of 111 hole-in ones.
The Thanksgiving Tournament was
cancelled this year due to inclement weather and
work schedules, but we still enjoyed the
get-together we did have.
Congratulations to Tony T. on his winning
all seven of the tournaments held this year. Quite
an accomplishment!
Through the efforts of Steve, we had Galen
Culver of Channel 4 TV visit us on September 2 to
do an interview and play a round of "CROLF", we
have had our three minutes of TV exposure for the
year.
Jeanette has set up a webpage where anyone
can look in on our game. From our records we have, I have compiled
the following information. The totals for the
hole-in-ones are contained in the quarterly statistics,
but there have been a few really memorable ones
that stand out. On October 9, 1999, I made 3
hole-in-ones in one game, holes 6, 8 and 11. On
June 18, 2000, I made 2 hole-in-ones in one game,
holes 10 and 13. On July 4, 2000, Tony T. made an
unprecedented back-to-back hole-in-ones, holes 12
and 13.
I've been asked on several occassions what
is par for our course. I don't think that I could
come up with a par when there are as many
variables as there are on our course. Since our
present records have been kept, I have been able to
trace the course record. On October 2, 1999, I
scored a 37 which may have been the first score in
the 30?s. On April 22, 2000, Tony T. scored a 36.
On May 17, 2000, I scored a 35 and one game later
on the same day, I scored a 34. On May 28, I
scored a 32. So we started the year with a record of
37 and ended with a 32. As this occurred back in
the middle of the year, this record should soon fall.
I've enjoyed the sessions with everone this
past year and I'm looking forward to an even more
enjoyable 2001.Written by Henry R., January 2001.
