Current Official CROLF Members:
Henry & Wanda R.
Jeanette & Steve S.
Melissa, Scott, Myrna & Tony T.
There were two Current Official Members
Guest Participants for this past quarter. Galen C.
and Judy R. were our visitors this quarter. All
Current Official Members enjoyed our guests. We
look forward to their return visits in the future!
Current Official CROLF Members are looking
forward to making more future guest invitations
especially when the super hot weather subsides.Updates During the Quarter:
We received another "test ball" this quarter.
The test ball has survived 48 1/2 games and 2,034
strokes so far. It looks like that this test ball may
make the official ball status.
Other same type balls were ordered and we
used them in our last tournament. All balls used
were survived by all team players.
We also have an update from our last issue
on our EXPOSURE?! article. Galen C. from our
local TV station, Channel 4, came for a two hour
visit. CROLF was featured on Galen's "Is This A
Great State or What?" Video tape is available
from Henry R., Steve S., and Tony T. if anyone has
interest in viewing this featured news story.
We have more information on both of these
stories within this issue. Keep on reading! Our Website!
Our website is up and running now. Our
counter and graphics are showing up as they are
supposed to. However, I have received notice that
there are some updates that our site provider is
doing and I'm not sure if this will effect our site or
not at this time. Hopefully, the site updates will not
effect us. Time will tell us though. I will keep an
eye out for this and will try to make corrections if
needed. Since September 13, 2000, we have
received 39 hits on our site as of September 27,
2000, at 10:45 a.m.!
Also to note is that our website has been
added to many search engines. These search
engines include Matilda, Voila, ineedhits, Searchit,
and PowerSearch. These are free search engines to
submit to. Such search engines as Alta Vista could
take up to three months before we are added onto
their search. Keep an eye out for CROLF in your
search engine or engines that you use.Opportunities Available:
If there is something you would like to see
in the upcoming Official CROLF Quarterly, feel
free to suggest and even write up a story item.
Submit to Jeanette S. or Henry R. The next edition
is planned for January, 2001.
If you have an idea of an upcoming event,
feel free to express your idea(s) to any other Current
Official CROLF members. All seem to be open to
hear these suggestions."Great Balls of Plastic"
We finally got a regulation ball. It happened
we finally got a ball that can hold up to the strain of
big mallets, strong arms, and the many people thatthe ball may metaphorically be. Over the course of
it's history CROLF has been plague with some
problems, the ball was one. We (everybody) has
split a ball or two, or three, or four. The balls we
originally had, held up the best up until now.
I spent several hours searching the Internet
for balls. I even consulted Oxford University?s
web site about the physical properties of Croquet
balls seeking information. We got linked to a
supplier, Clarkpoint Croquet. We ordered some
balls but with disappointing results. They split
faster than our original balls.
But thanks to the Internet, I found another
place Engineering Laboratories, Inc. I immediately
emailed them and four other suppliers of plastic
balls. It was Jason Mason from Engineering
Laboratories, Inc. that responded by sending us a
sample. A plain white (translucent) 3 inch ball.
They call it polyprophylene, but we call it Plastic.
After a test period, we placed an order for our
CROLF balls. Henry has already customized our
balls with grooves. He then painted the grooves for
each individual's color choice. Article submitted

CROLF Members."Is This a Great State or What?"
Were famous, we made it, we have our 15
minutes of fame, well at least 2.5 minutes on
Channel 4's "Is this a GREAT STATE or What?"
show. The experience to the least was exciting. We
can say the Internet played a part in it. I emailed
Mr. Culver a note and some photos of the Labor
Day tournament. However, it came to be, Mr.
Culver came out and spent about 2 hours filming
and interviewing Henry, Wanda, Jeanette and
myself.
I think that it came out great. Although they
got the phone number wrong. The response I have
received has been great. We have copies if anyone
would like to see it."Fame is like a shaved pig with a greased tail, and it is only
after it has slipped through the hands of some thousands, that
some fellow, by mere chance, holds on to it!"
~ Davy Crockett ~We may or may not get any more response from this
experience. We did have or 2.5 minutes of fame.
We may have been seen by thousands, but if no one
holds on to CROLF but us, that will be enough.
But what if?...... Steve S.Next Quarter's Tenative Tournament Dates
