David Tinsley Will
Recorded 29th December 1801
I, David Tinsley, of Columbia County in the State of Georgia, Minister of the Gospel, being afflicted with bodyly sicknefs. Tho perfectly sensible and of sound memory knowing it is appointed for all men to depart this life, do ordain and appoint this writing my Last Will and Testament.
First I comit my soul to Almighty God that gave it. Secondly I commit my body to the Durst to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors not doubting and firmly believing it will have a resurection.
Thirdly, what worldly goods it has pleased God to Blefs me with I dispose in the following maner.
Item---I leave to my Daughter Elizabeth Underwood one feather bed and furniture, one negro wench named Edec valued at three hundred and sixty dollars, one negro girl named Patt valued at three hundred dollars, also one riding chair valued at ninety dollars which articles my Daughter Elizabeth has in possession.
Item---I leave to my Daughter Suchy Simmons one feather bed and furniture, one riding chair valued at one hundred seven dollars and fifty cents, one negro woman named duc (?) valued at five hundred dollars, also one hundred forty two dollars and fifty cents in cash which articles my Daughter has in possession.
Item---I leave to my Daughter Hannah Bird Tinsley one feather bed and furniture, one negro woman named Anirey valued at three hundred and fifty dollars, also four hundred dollars in cash my Daughter to pofsefs the legacy when she arrives at at lawfull age or at marriage.
Item---I leave to my Daughter Nancy Smith Tinsley one good feather bed and furniture, one negro girl named Lett valued at five hundred dollars, also two hundred and fifty dollars in cash my Daughter to pofsefs the legacy when she arrives at lawfull age or at marriage.
I leave to my Daughter Franky Armstead Tinsley one good feather bed and furniture, one negro girl named Delphi valued at five hundred dollars, also two hundred and fifty dollars in cash my daughter Franky pofsefs the legacy when she arrives at lawfull age or marriage.
Item---I leave to my Daughter Peggy Tinsley one good feather bed and furniture, one negro girl named Dafney valued at five hundred dollars, also two hundred and fifty dollars in cash my Daughter to posfefs the legacy when she arrives at lawfull age or marriage.
Item---I leave to my son James Tinsley one good feather bed and furniture and three negroe namely Sam, Peter and York my James to pofsefs the legacy when he arrives at lawfull age or marriage.
all my estate not appropiated which consist in live stock, household furniture of ___________ ______________all other discription of tools belonging to my estate to gather with the __________my four youngest daughters and son be continued and kept on the plantation where on I now live under the direction of my executors for the purpose of raising and maintaining my five youngest children and to discharge the legaties_______ cash and at when my executors has fully complyed with this will in discharging all the ligacies be qualified by it they may in their discretion make an equal distribution of all my unapropriatid estate with the land and plantation I now live on among my children or there representitives of the first degre it is my will and desire and I enjoin it on my executors in that if my negros die that I have bequeathed before the legatee has it in pofsision the legatee so ____shall receive the value of the negro so died out of my unpropriated property and in case any of my children die without lawfull due or will wuch childs legacy shall revert to my unpropriated estate and be distributed with "A" in the same manner as is directed lastly I appoint my Daughter Hannah Bird Tinsley executrix and Charles Crawford as executor of this my last will and testament revoking all former wills as witnefs my hand and affixed my seal this 26th Septemb 1801-

Columbia County Thomas Hanson, Samuel Hanson & Aley Hanson personally came into open court & after being duly sworn on the Holy Gospels of almighty God deposeth and saith that they were present & saw David Tinsley deceased sign and seal the within will and that he was of sound mind and disposing memory at the time of signing the ____and that they severally signed there names as witnefses to the same in the presence and at the request of the deceased.
