Georgia: Pike County: John Harper Will, 2 June 1866

Pike County} I John Harper of the County and State aforesaid being of
sound and disposing mind doth make and appoint this to be my last will
and testament.
First, It is my will and desire that my wife Elizabeth Haprer shall
have the lot of land on which I know live during her natural life which
is known and distinguished by the No. 162 together with my household
and kitchen furniture for her my said wife to dispose of her san part
of the bedding and furniture at her death also one horse or mule as she
may choose & one sow and pigs of my stock together with my buggy and
plantation tools with two cows & calves & four head of sheep and one
years provisions, all of my property that I have left to my wife is to
revert to my children at her death except her bed and clothing which
she can dispose of as she wishes.
Item 2nd I desire and direct that my Grand daughter Sarah E. Scott
shall have a bed out of the present furniture.
Item 3rd I desire and direct further that all my just debts be paid out
of the balance of my estate both real and mixed be equally divided
between all my children viz. Elizer C. Rivers, Sarah K. Yarborough,
Jane E. Rivers, Benjamin F. Harper, Martha A. Ogletree, Emeline D.
Carral, Wyet A. Harper, Tabetha M. Wiggins, Amanda F. Thompson, Rebecca
B. Rivers, John M. Harper, James J. Harper and Harret Denson by my
Executor who is hereinafter named.
Item 4th I devise and direct further that my son Benjamin F. Harper be
and I hereby appoint him my Executor to this my last will and
testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed
my seal this the 2nd day of June 1866.

Pike County} Come into open court at the regular term of the Superior
Court John A. Allen, Abraham S. allen and George W. Williamson and
being duly sworn depose that they saw John Harper sign and publish the
within as his last will and testament while of sound and disposing mind
that they witnefsed the same for him at his request and in his presence
and in the presince of each other and that the same was executed
voluntarily by him on the day purports to have been executed.

Upon the evidence of the subscribing witnefses to the foregoing will of
John Harper deceased, it is ordered that the will be established and
that the Ordinary of said County admit the same to record granting? The
executor named and issue letters of Testamentary in terms of the law.
