Mr Bourne says that with him and his wife were taken " some of his children"
Those "who were too young to travel were killed." They had been married only 4
or 5 years and one gasps at the age of the babies who were spared as old enough
to make the journey.
The first tidings of his back to wells comes in a letter dated "Canada, Oct
7, 1704" In it he says his family is all in health. He blames the Goverment for
its failure to exchange prisoners. "If the Governor of Massachusetts had only
sent one man for me, I and all my family would have been restored. Ebenezer and
wife desire to be remembered to you,"
In April 1705, after Livingstone and Sheldon had seen the govenor in Quebec,
Hill, accompained by 2 frenchman, was sent on parole (his family being
sufficient surety) with letters to Dudley. They traveled over land to mass.
After delivering his letters he visited family at Wells.
He finally came home on the HOPE, which reached Boston Nov 21, 1706.
From a desposition made in 1749 and 50 by Dependence and David Littlefield
concerning land once owned by Samuel Austin and later by Samuel and
Eliiza(Austin) Hill, we learn that the Hill with some of their children return
to the Farm.
