Note for: Edmund Littlefield, - BEF 11 DEC 1661

Edmund probley came to wells from exeter in 1641. He was a member of the
church of Rev. John Wheelwright. He was a member in 1630 in exeter. and had 21
acres asigned to him. He is not on the list of those driven from the
coloney of Mass. We infer that he may have arrived at Boston in 1638.
Before the expeltion took place. Anthoney and Him traveled to America First.
The rest Followed later. They took passage to boston on the Bevis, of hampton.

Edmund came to 1st to boston with oldest 2 sons. wife Annis age 38 and 6
children and Servants John Knight and Hugh Durdal foll. in the BEVIS in May
1638 from tichfield, Hants, England where they were living.( N.E. Reg. 67,343)
Moved to Wells before 14 July 1643, when Thos. George granted him 100 acres
adj. the mill and the neck of marsh between that and Webhannet River. There he
had a saw and gristmill. Will 11 dec 1661. Fam. Compromise sign Dec 17 by Son
Francis sr,his mother, sons Thomas and Francis jr. inventory dec 24.

The last will and Testement of Edmund Littlefejld Decemb 11:61:
First I bequesth unto my soule to god Almighty, & I bequeath my body to the
earth from whence I came/
I bequeath unto Francis Littlefejld my Elldest sun & Anthony Littlefejld, &
Elizabeth Wakefejld my daughter, all the whoole Tract of Land lijing of the
North East side of Kennebunke with the Falls together with a certen quantity of
march lijng up In the woods, betweene Cape Porpus River, & Kennebunke, which is
specifyd In two deeds, granted by Mr Geo: Cleeve Agent of Mr Rygby, which is
now come into the Goverment of Mr Gorges, Proprietor of the Province of Mayne/
Which Land & March shall bee aequally devided amongst those three above
specifyd/
I give unto Francis Littlefijld Senjor 10 (pounds) to bee pd out of my
goods/
I give unto Anthony Littlefejld all my weareing cloaths/
I give unto Elizabeth Wakefejld 5(pounds) to bee pd out of my goods/
I give unto my 3 executors Namely Annas Littlefejld, My wife, & thom
Littlefejld, & Fran : Littlefejld my youngest sun all my upland & Marsh att
home which is not disposd, & that which I bought of my sun Anthony, & alsoe yt
which I bought of Mr. Fletcher, together with ye Corne Mill & saw Mill, with
all my houseing & goods, within doores & with out, togeather, with all the
stocke & Cattle both small and greate, whitch shall bee aequally devided
amongst those 3 executors, onely the Yland that lyeth on the south side of
Webbannett River, If the sd tho(s) & Francis Littlefejld Junjo(r) do both of
them pay to Annas my wife foure bush of corne yearly for 7 yeares, then my wife
shall have nothing to do with Itt, otherwise
f they do not pforme that yearly, then my wife shall have pouer to lett it to
others, & to expell them quitte out of it all/
And likewise my sun Thom(s) & fran : Littlefejld shall pay unto my eight
bush(s) of wheate yearely for ye corne Mill, Iif they will not y(n) my wife
shall have pouer to lett it to any other, & expell them out of it/ And my wife
shall have her third part of the Marsh, that lyeth on the South East side of
Webbhannett River; And if soe bee y(t) Fran : Littlefejld & thomas littlefejld
& Fran : Littlefejld my youngest sun bee loving & helpfull to Y(r) mother my
wife, then they shall have all after her desease, otherwise if they bee not
loving & helpfull to her shee shall have pouer to dispose of itt, w(r) shee
thinkes good herselfe/
I give unto my daughter Mary barrett, and to my daughter Hannah
Littlefejld fiveteene pound(s) a peece to bee pd with in 3 years, five pound(s)
a peece yearely, till it bee payd/ I do give unto all my grandchildren five
shillings a peece W(n) they come at age/
I give unto my sun John Littlefield Tenn pound(s), to bee payd out of ye
fourty pound(s) which hee is to be payed for his purchase att Ogunquett/
Alsoe the 3 executors, Namely Annas my wife, & Tho : & Fran : Littlefejld
shall have pouer to recover & receaue all debts/ And those 3 executors shall
pay all debts dues & demand(s), & all portions Legacys & gyfts, which is here
specifyd; My suns Tho: & Fran: Littlefejld Junio(r), is to Improve & till the
ground, & thejre mother my wife shall have the third part of the Corne/
I give to my wife 6 or 7 Acers of March that lyeth at Ogunquet.
I desire Mr Ezekell Knightt & Mr Jos: Bowles to bee my Feffees In trust If
neede Require, to see my will fulfilled/

Inventory returned at Pounds 588; 13: 4, by Ezekell Knights, Jos: Bowles
and William Hamonds as appraisers, who were sworn 24th:oct:1661. Will recorded
