Mobile Suit Information: OZ-16MSX-D Scorpio
Mobile Suit Designer: OZ, redesigned slightly by Kou Report Filed by: Kou
Scorpio was OZ’s first planed Gundam, a dual class mobile suit incorporated a lot of new ideas into one strong unit. The armor is gundanium alloy, layered well but in some areas less then others. In the mobile suit mode it stands tall and menacing, with large shoulders holding missile pods. The original planed color was red and black.
The armaments used when in mobile suit mode are few, but well designed. The first weapon, and the main weapon also, is the beam bayonet. It is a beam rifle and beam saber built into one unit. The beam saber and beam rifle are located in the same area. The beam rifle uses Mega Particles to make it easier to generate power. This design has one inherent flaw, if it is disconnected from the main reactor, it drains heavily from the E-pac giving it a very limited use. When used solely as a beam saber, the problem is non-existent.
The second, third, and fourth weapon emplacements are in both shoulders and in the chest. Each one holds a 10 launch micro missile emplacement, in total 30 strong missiles easily used within the suit. They are not armed until launch, making them safe during close range fights.
The final piece of equipment is a single A. S. Planet Defendor. This revolutionary design improves over the single Planet Defenser, making it so instead of having to be burdened with many units, a mobile suit can use one unit to protect itself. Like the original if many suits joined together, it would grow stronger. There are a few flaws with this unit, the major one being that it needs to constantly recharge after a relatively short use.
A small change in the design by me gave the Scorpio one more weapon in mobile suit mode. It can gain use of the heat rod, which originally was designed to be inaccessible in this form. Doing this has had no negative impact upon the suit, unless the weapon is lost during combat. If this happens and it goes into mobile armor mode, it loses its main weapon, making it a major loss.
Scorpio’s Mobile Armor form is lower to the ground and faster then the mobile suit status. The down side to this, is it looses major protective power from the A. S. Planet Defenser and the fire support from the missiles. Instead it must rely on two beam bayonet that are built within the suit that comes out during the change. This makes sure that the weapons wont be lost during combat, and gives Scorpio a fighting chance in both modes. The only other weapon is a heat rod located at the rear of the suit, the ‘tail’ creating a strong defense agents suits attacking from the rear. At this time I am experimenting with a control interface to allow such weapons to be used more effectively. This special heat rod is about two times the length of Epyon’s, designed solely for mobile armor battle.
