On the 1870 census "Susan Grass" is living with Caroline McMann
Johnston as an "infirm"
or invalid age 70. This makes her born 1800.
This makes me think that Caroline is also a daughter of Susan because then it would make sence for her to be in this family group. There is no other close family connection.

NEW DEVELOPMENT
If you recall, Alfred McMann married Althea Grass Argraves and we knew his mother's name was Caroline, possibly maiden name "Dean" as on John McMAnn's death record that's his mother's maiden name, father listed as Henry. we also knew Alfred had at least one other brother named Andrew. The other day someone named Carolyn wrote to point out that on the 1851 census, there is a Henry McMinn, (son of Thomas McMinn and Elizabeth Grass)
wife Caroline and the children's ages ALL match exactly to the ages for the McMann brothers we knew of and mother. Your site also has this census info and lists Caroline maiden name as "Dyke" not Dean. Do you know where this maiden name info came from. I'm fairly confident at this point that
this McMinn family of 1851 is my McMann family of Aroostook (why the name alteration I don't know) but of course have more work to do to prove this. If you can shed any light on this marriage info from 1839 of Henry McMinn and Caroline Dyke on your site please let me know. Thanks again for your help.

WE KNOW THAT CAROLINE DEAN MARRIED JOHNSTON IN 1855 AND THAT HER MCMANN CHILDREN ALL MATCH THE MCMINN CHILDREN IN AGES AND PLACES OF BIRTH THAT APPEAR AS MCMINN IN 1851.
