Grasse/Glidden
Corner
Hi everyone out there. My son and I are avid Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans and now we are becoming avid computer users.
We love reading Sci-Fi and fantasy books. One of our favorite authors is Ann McCaffrey. Her characters are so alive you feel as if you are a part of the story.
Genealogy
Boy is this lots of fun. Lots of digging and rooting around in old musty places. The surprises you find are fascinating. At the present time I am researching all my lines. I got started in the genealogy searching when my Moms unknown brother showed up after 70 years. Mom new that she had a sister that was adopted, but knew nothing of any other siblings. Family rumers have it that there may be more children. So I continue the search.
The ones from Aroostook Co,Me are
William Day and Hester Lemaster Sherman, associated names are Baker, Bardsley, Betts, Brown, Carr, Clark, Dumphy, Eagers, Estabrook, Gaskin, Grasse, Haskell, Howland, Lindsay, Little, Lord, Lycette, McCollum, Nickerson, Nightingale, Pollard, Ramsey, Randall, Rockwell, Scott, Seamans, Shields, Skofield, Spearin, Tidd, Tyrell and White
George A Grasse and Lucy A Lyons This is my elusive ancestry. I have no leads on George and Lucy and four of the children after 1880. I am hoping that the George I found in the Pension list in 1890 is the right one, so I have sent for his records. I need some leads to their parents. I surmise but can not prove. Isn't that the problem we all face at times.
Another site for Grace/Grasse/DeGrasse is Mary Nichols site. She has both the German and the French lines. Yes there are two different lines and both seem to come out of Canada. And since I haven't made my connections yet I check out both her sections. I lean more to the French line because of family tidbits but anything is possible.
William Bradford Price and Loretta Hanson I have added a second one to this. The beginning of the Price line as I know it can be found at the following Price page.
Charles K Suitter and Ann Wilcox
All of the above moved to Me from locations in Canada.
My Randolph, Norfolk Co , Ma. lines are
I now have Israel Beal's parents who were John Beal and Elizabeth. Here is one of those quirks that I thought was a miss-spell on Adriana's last name. Her middle name must be Mae and her last name is May. In the bible it said May and I mistook it for her middle name, because of a first entry that had Mae as her middle name. Well we learn as we go! Confusion at every turn.
William W Sloan and Alice J Beal
William Sloan's parents were Peter Sloan and Phoebe Tilson of Salem, Ma. A great appreciation to a wonderful person at the Randolph, Ma town office who so kindly gave me the information on both above parents.
Alonzo N Morse and Mary Elizabeth Mclean
(This line is slowly being collected. There were 13 children that Mary had with her first and second husband Elihu. Alonzo and Elihu were brothers. I know that at least three children died in a cholera epedemic in the early 1900.)
THE MAINE CONNECTION
This is a great link to marriage info in Maine, starting in 1892 up all the marriages are listed by both Bride and Groom or even by town. Maine State Archieves They have just starting to compile town marriages before 1892. Some are now on line. Now they have Deaths from 1960 to 1996 on line. I found a 20 year mistake in the age of my grandfather Day, instead of 99 years old it said 79. So use it as a lead but try to verify the info at some point.
