This section is in its infancy. Searching for WALDEN roots in North Carolina has turned up nothing yet. Searching for ADAM (S) has also gone nowhere. This was a German family. The original name was ADAM and was changed to ADAMS. I believe that our ADAMS were an Ohio family.
The MILNER name shows up in a lot of places, but not our
particular line. The CAMPBELL name is very prevalent, but I
haven't found our particular Campbells yet, not even on the main
CAMPBELL site on the Net. These are two Kentucky families.
PAUL THOMAS MILNER is the son of George Dan MILNER and Virginia Mae ADAMS. Virginia was the daughter of Walter ADAM (S) and Addie Elizabeth WALDEN. The WALDEN family was from North Carolina. We believe Walter Adams' father was in the dairy business in or near Cleveland, Ohio. When his sons entered the business with him he named the business ADAM & SONS. By usage, the name of the business was shortened to ADAMS and the family name changed from ADAM to ADAMS.
George Dan MILNER was the son of George Washington MILNER b. 02/24/1890 in Pendelton Co., KY near Falmouth, d. 08/1982 in Kentucky, a couple of month's before his great grandson, Kevin Paul MILNER was born. George married Elizabeth Howe CAMPBELL (b. 10/12/1896, Fleming Co., KY, d. 07/29/1962). Her father was a sheriff and her family, at one time, owned a mountain in Kentucky which they donated to the Girl Scouts. Her parents were JAMES WESLEY CAMPBELL and JENNIE PAYNE CAMPBELL(b. 10/12/1896 in Fleming CO., KY, d. 07/29/62) daughter of James Wesley CAMPBELL and Jennie PAYNE CAMPBELL. I just (2/19/98) stumbled across another researcher looking for information on Augustus PAYNE (b. 1811) (farmer and owner of Payne's Depot, a general store), who married a Nancy ___ and had, among other children, a Jennie PAYNE (b. 1856). This could possibly be our Jennie PAYNE CAMPBELL.
George Washington MILNER was the son of Aaron (or Erin) MILNER, (born in Pendleton Co., KY) who married Lula CUMEY, also in the area of Erlanger and Covington, KY.
If anyone should run across information on any of these families,
we would really appreciate hearing from you.
