Biography
Well, lets start with something about me. right from the beginning...
I was born on the 11th of March, 1981 in Poole, Dorset, UK. I spent the first 12 years of my life in Poole and neighbouring Bournemouth, attending St. Michael's (C of E) Primary School, before my father's change of job moved us up to Northumberland in the north east of England. It's a quiet place with virtually no nightlife, so with little to do out of home at night, I stayed in most of the time. Consequently, I was able to get A*,A,A,A,A,B,B,B,D at GCSE and A,B,B,C,E at A-Level (in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, German and Music). I applied to Cambridge University, and failed at interview, (the stuff they do there is well hard!), I then applied to Warwick who gave me an offer of AAB which of course I didn't quite make, and so I am currently at Cardiff (who gave me an offer of EE [hey!, I can boast as much as I want, it's my site!])
So, now I'm doing Mathematics, Operational Research, and Statistics at Cardiff University. I'll not bore everyone silly, with exactly what the course entails. All I'll say is that if you like Maths, then it certainly is a pretty good course, and if you look on the links page, you'll find links to the university.
On the whole, I am not keen on sport. As I write this, the Sydney Olympics are happening, and I am watching odd bits of it. Footballwise, I support both Newcastle United (from the North East) and AFC Bournemouth (a somewhat poorer team). The only sports I enjoy playing are those that do not involve contact and things flying towards you at great speeds. I was recently very pleased to read in the Daily Mail that croquet is very much the sport to be playing, as it is a sport I partake in when I can (which is currently only at home in the University holidays.) Also, I enjoy swimming, although I am not all that good, and am starting going to the gym on a more regular basis.
My main interests are musical. I play the piano, the tenor horn, and the drums as well as owning a harmonica (which I can't play) and a posthorn (which is in such bad repair that it cannot be played!). Also, I am currently a member of the university choir. We perform twice a year, once at Christmas in the city hall and once at Easter in St. David's Hall. Also, I listen to a lot of music including the pop charts every week. My favourite acts are currently Elton John, the Divine Comedy, Toploader, Ooberman, the Beautiful South, the Lighthouse Family, Heather Small, Lutricia McNeal, Whitney Houston, Eminem, TQ, Craig David, Jamelia, Gabrielle and Des'ree
As well, as these interests, I am currently researching my family tree. My grandfather got me interested in it and he is researching my dad's side of the family, but as they are not direct relatives of his, was doing little on my mum's side of the family. So, I decided to research my mum's side of the family. I collect shells, and stamps. I currently have about 3000 shells and 7000 stamps but no rarities in the stamp collection (as far as I know). I play bridge (normally over the Internet as I know very few bridge players), and sometimes play chess as well, as I have several friends who are very keen chess players. I play computer games, but don't go for games where the aim is just to shoot all the enemies or press as many buttons as possible at once! My favourite computer games currently are Worms 2, Star Trek The Birth of the Federation, and the classic Chuckie Egg!
I think this sums up me, myself and my interests. I can't think of a good ending, so I'll just end it now!
